Thirteen Things swirling around in MommaK’s head today…

1. Tonight is the company Christmas party I told you about last week. I went shopping with my mom on Monday and found the perfect evening gown at Lord & Taylor that is entirely too dressy but I am wearing it anyway because it’s sinfully delicious. I’ll take pictures and post them (hopefully) this weekend.

2. Tonight is the party that I have to drive over the Bay Bridge to get to and did I mention it is sleeting? Anyone have a valium handy?

3. The party is an overnight affair with a breakfast the following day so my mother is coming to stay with the kids for the night. I’ve got the lunches ready, the clothes laid out for tomorrow and a 2 paged typed schedule for her to follow. You think she’ll be alright?

4. Last night I was taking a few pictures of the tree and ended up with this neat one. How did I do that?

5. Did you notice that the tree is in the same spot that our treadmill used to occupy? Me and my big fat ass are telling you so.

6. Cards have been mailed, shopping is over half done but I have not been able to bring myself to wrap very much. When I was a kid I loved to wrap. I would wrap all of the present and then some. Where did all of that desire go? Can I buy some back?

7. While I had my camera out I caught a few good shots of Lil. This one shows her amazing pink tongue. You gotta see it. Look at that suction power. What would you do with a tongue like that? Wait… forget it…don’t tell me.

8. Voting for the 2005 Weblog Awards Voting is going on through today. Did you know that our very talented friend Sugarfused is a finalist in the Photoblog category? Please click here to go over and give her your vote. She is a truly amazing artist as well as a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend. Good luck Deb!!

9. I have the same argument every freaking year with the Starbuck’s employee in my local Safeway store.
I order my drink, “Grande non-fat eggnog latte, please“.
She says, “They are not technically non-fat, you know. We use skim milk but the eggnog is eggnog“.
“Can’t you use non-fat eggnog?”, I reply.
“We don’t have any“, she tells me.
“But you’re in a Safeway - a store that sells non-fat eggnog about 20 feet from where you are standing. Can’t you get some of that?”, I ask and I get the same answer I get every year…“Sorry…No”.

10. Last Saturday I went to Angie’s Christmas Party and had such a good time. I was so intrigued by her home and family- all that I’d read about them over the past months- I could have just sat there in her beautiful kitchen and chatted away for hours. I felt totally at home there and even though I had never met any of them face to face before, I felt like I knew them better than some of the other guests in attendance. I must have hugged Angie 10 times at least. She is the most wonderful hostess, making sure everyone was happy and full. I just kept following her around from room to lovely room so I could have more of her. Bottom line: She’s all that and a bag of bbq chips. She’s even more lovable and amazing in person if you can even imagine that. *BTW- Angie, your check is in the mail for the sex-kitten remark. You have no idea how many hits I have gotten this week from that post ;-)

11. My daughter has a report on earthworms due today. There are no earthworms in the yard when it is 20 degrees outside. Did you know that? Did you know that no pet shop or bait shop carries earthworms this time of year either? Luckily after calling all around tarnation I found some last night after our Brownie meeting. Can you guess where? Right next to the milk in the local 7-11. ewwwww!

12. When we got married we were flat broke. I mean nothing to our names but what we graduated from high school with- which was nothing - not a lick. You get the idea. Well, because we had no money we had to finance my tiny little old engagement ring. We couldn’t even afford the matching band at the time. That was long ago and far away but he has been talking about “finally doing it right” for a few years now. He had always said we would do it for our 10th anniversary but it just didn’t work out. Last night he called and told me that we have an appointment with the jewelers tomorrow afternoon to look at rings. I am so excited!! I may be getting my 10th anniversary present a year and a half late and my Christmas present 10 days early!!

13. I will be in and out today -but mostly out. I don’t expect to be able to post many links but if you leave them I will throw them up tomorrow when I get back. Happy 13ing

**PS- Thanks to the 28 of you who were gracious and brave enough to be me the last couple of days. I owe you each a cloning session. Just let me know when you want me to be you and as long as it’s after Dec. 26th- you’ve got it!
