1. We had our first snow day this week. That’s right - 3 inches = no school. Gotta love it. 2. If you even mention the word snow in the forecast here everyone runs out to the store and buys up all of the milk, bread and toilet paper. I don’t get it. If you were going to be stuck inside for a few days wouldn’t you want more than a toast and milk? (Obviously, I get the TP) 3. Yesterday I got my 10,000th hit. (Well, it’s not really my 10K. It’s my 10K at Petroville.com. I reset my stat-counter back in August when I switched to my own domain.) Anyway, my 10,ooo visitor was Dena from Morpheme Palette. Woo-hoo!! Thanks Dena 4. My husband cut himself shaving the other morning and over breakfast this conversation ensued:
5. Speaking of messed up faces, you should see mine. Or maybe not. I used some Biore Strips a few days ago and now my whole face is broken out like an angry teenager’s. Nice for the Christmas picture, huh? 6. I’ve updated my “House Library” link. I am so in love with that Jewel Holiday CD that I have been listening to it non-stop all week. She sings a rendition of “Ave Maria” on there that will make you melt. 7. I really need new glasses. I wear contacts so whenever I go for my annual check up I always end up ordering those instead of a new pair of glasses. I know what kind of frames I’m looking for but I have not had much luck finding them yet. 8. Lesson #27 You Won’t Learn from Betty Crocker: Never leave chocolate chip almond cookies to cool on the counter while you go and check your email and forget that your Great Dane is wandering about. 9. A few months ago my friend and neighbor (around here “neighbor” means same zipcode) told me that she “found my blog”. My first reaction was YIKES but after all of that time reading here she still likes me. Actually, she recently unveiled her own blog called LadyBug Crossing. Stop by and say hello if you have a chance. 10. This is a happy TV time for me. It only happens twice a year- 2 episodes of Survivor in 1 week and 1 of them is the 2 hour finale. I will be happy as long as it’s not Steph or Lydia that brings home the million. (please, oh please, oh please don’t let them win!) 11. Lately I’ve taken to using the word “sassified”. (okay, I made it up) Example: “You’d better watch your tone or you’ll soon find yourself sassified“. Meaning: Open mouth, insert soap. It’s been a long time since I’ve had to actually wash out a mouth but I’m not afraid to sassify anyone who gets sassy. Understand? 12. I need to create a bird feeder craft project that is suitable for 6-8 year olds to do without a lot of mess but that will take a good chunk of time to knock out. Any ideas? 13. Next Thursday I’ll be away for an overnight stay in St. Michael’s, MD. My husband and I are going to the company Christmas party which is being held this year at The Inn at Perry Cabins. I was there 10 years ago and it was so incredibly beautiful! I can’t wait to visit again (except for the bridge) but I don’t think I can play the 13 next week. Oh my… a neighbor!? I hope none of my neighbors find my blog. For the bird feeder — a box with peanut butter, with bird seed stuck to it? I think anything you do will be messy!! Decorate the box first… that’ll drag it out! Ooooh! A snow day… we haven’t had enough snow yet, though they’re talking 3-6 inches today.

:wave: I’m actually a little leary about someone finding my blog from my SMALL town (like 5000 people). It wouldn’t be hard to figure out who has 6 daughters.

4. Colby once got a razor and cut the tops ofher lip skin off, she no longer has the points at the top -you know just under your nose.
5. Leason learned, never do deep cleaning on the face within 2 weeks of a photo.
6. I have tons of holiday cd’s. I love them all.
7. I always wore contacts. When I moved up here I got into the habit of wearing my glasses now I rarely wear my contacts. Long hours driving and contacts do not make for comfortable eyes.
8. We have a dog we have to watch also.
9. No one has found mine yet that I know of.

11. I use sassy a lot, especially telling Steven not to get sassy with me. I use sassified as the attitude.

Birdfeeder project: If you can get pinecones, add a hanger, string or yarn or wire… spread on peanut butter, roll in pans or bowls filled with birdseed. Hang in a tree by a window.

Jewel has the most amazing voice and that comes through beautifully in her Christmas songs. I have a collection with her on it.
I love all the Ave Marias. I sang both of them for recital when I took voice lessons.

I agree with you on the people going to the grocery store and acting stupid when it snows thing. Have you noticed how people drive too? Driving being a relative term of course.

I’m totally with you on the Survivor thing. I really don’t want Steph or Lydia to win. Right now I’d like to see Danni or Rafe win. I think it would be great for Rafe to win - I mean, he’s a gay, Mormon, outdoorsy guy who has shown himself to be a threat in physical challenges. How great is that for stereotype busting?

It took a foot of snow to cancel here –and actually, I think its the 10 degree temps that prompted the canceling.
Truth be known, it was worse yesterday when they were in school and it was snowing and blowing and cold, cold, cold — than it is today. Today, the sun is shining, its probably up to a whole 15 degrees — but its not bad at all, considering. But — hey, a snow day is a snow day. There is probably some conspiracy with the school board, so the kids can get out and shovel snow on snow days. Otherwise, we have to do it

Mine’s up…The Inn’s at Perry Cabin is GORGEOUS!! We got an overnight stay there from a former boss of hubby’s about 2 years ago…The meal was the most fun…where else can you eat Buffalo, ostrich, caviar and a fabulous Shiraz while looking at the water and snow in front a HUGE fireplace…all at once! Have a GREAT time! I’m jealous..think you could squeeze me in your overnight back next to the biore strips? :pleasantry:

Today a local newscaster referred to buying bread, milk and eggs in anticipation of a storm, the “French Toast Syndrome”
Me? Me? I was the 10,000th. What are the freakin’ odds? I think I need to go buy a lotto ticket. Right now.
The bird feeder? Give the kid 100 popsicles. This will take quite awhile to eat all of them. When you have 100 popsicle sticks, glue them all together some way or another, throw in some bird seed and say “Voila!”
I have GOT to start doing this Thursday 13 thing (I say that every Friday after reading yours). If you happen to think of it, email me on Wednesday and tell me to get on the stick already, lol. I’ve had blog-apathy…I’m trying to get rid of it. :rolleyes:

No school? How cool is that (for the kids, at least). Blake’s school got delayed 2 hours - that’s all.
My kids like to put peanut butter on pine cones for bird feeders, but that only takes a couple of minutes to do.
