The parade on Saturday was bitter cold -
19 degrees when we started and 28 when we got back.
This is the float the kids put together. The tree is full of homemade bird feeders. It will sit outside the shelter through the holidays and make many birds very happy.

Here is a view from the parade. I’m usually on the other side taking pictures. I have to say that this was definitely more fun.

Sunday we baked and baked and baked- 12 dozen cookies + fudge.
While we baked we listed to Christmas CD’s. After the song “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” played my 10 year old turned to me and said, “Wow, Mom. He knows when you are sleeping. He knows when you’re awake… Santa kind of sounds like a stalker”. It is kind of scary when you think of it that way. How did she get so damn smart?

:slaphappy: One of the things I miss about living in the south is the Christmas parades! In my old hometown of Niceville, FL, we marched in several of them with our cub scout pack. Five miles of marching on a chilly morning (yes, it can be chilly in early Dec. on the FL panhandle!) used to be the kickoff of the season for us! Thanks for reminding me of those days! Yesterday, the snow did it’s own little reminder for me!
Have a great day!
Wow!! Great pictures!! 19 degrees?!!!
Our city Christmas parade was yesterday, but for the first time in years I didn’t have a child in it. So I opted to stay inside. Wasn’t feeling all that great anyway. :indifferent:
I’m dying for a cookie now!!!!
The 10 yr old sounds super smart! LOL!
How completely fun! Our neighborhood is doing carriage and hay rides for the first time this year on Xmas Eve. I hope we are able to do it because I love stuff like that!
Wow, your daughter is smart! I had never even thought about Santa being like a stalker!
LOL!
What a beautiful town you live in! And the people?! Where’d they come from, outta the ding dang woods???
Nice tree, too. You should go throw blobs of peanut butter on it and have the kids follow it up with seeds. Then the birds can eat AND sleep there.
whoa!
Parade pics are cute. Love the float.
Great pictures! Looks like lots of fun. Those cookies look delicious!
How did she get so damn smart? like mother, like daugher. :slaphappy:
It was cool when our parade started. By the time it ended two hours later, I had shed my jacket and was warm in my short-sleeve shirt. Saturday’s high here? 86. Kill me now.
The guinea pig looks like he was probably glad to get home to the sanctity of his cage, no? lol
Omigosh, thassalottacookies! Sure you don’t need to dump some of the overflow in the direction of Dallas?
12 dozen cookies? How many are left?
holly Smokes! That’s a lot of cookies!
Mmm! Where’s the milk?
Your daughter has a good point about Santa…
Yummy cookies and puppies in clothes are two of my favorite things!
12 Dozen!? 12×12=144. That’s gross. Heh. Hoss 1, M.K. 0
Cookies look marvelous! How many did you eat after you took that picture???
All we need now is a snow day!!

May I have a cookie? Please?
Wow, kids say the darndest things! Santa is a little creepy.
Looks like you had a blast at the parade. If you have any extra cookies, I know a gal in New York who loves homemade chocolate chip!
12 dozen cookies? All from scratch? Jeez! My super-mom powers are low right now. Can I borrow some of yours?
Glad you had a good weekend.
hi mommaK! it’s been a while since i last visited. life’s quite hectic for me right now… anyways, i just dropped by to say hi… and i want a cookie! LOL!
* in stalks the cookie monster* :raspberry:
Yummy!
Love the first pic.
Cutest town ever.
Stalker Santa! That’s too cute. And precocious for a 10 year old!
Look at all those cookies! You helped me get into the christmas spirit this year, just so ya know… I would love to have just 1 (and I mean ONE) day of cold weather like that… :sorry:
Enjoy your snow!
Your daughter has a very keen way of seeing things. Very, very interesting perspective on the whole Santa thing.
Your parade photos are glorious. It really was a joy looking at them.
