Last week was a winner. First, my computer, the desktop with all of my files and snazzy photo editing software flat-lined. The next day, the wireless microphone that I use to teach my Jazzercise classes with, puttered out. At that point, I was just waiting for #3…they always come in three’s. Friday, it happened when a deer jumped right out of the darkness and landed almost under my front bumper. So, it was an expensive week.
Meanwhile, I am verklempt. My 10 year old daughter gave a priceless speech at her SCO Presidential Inauguration which my husband, now a super hero, flew from San Francisco to Virginia and back again in one day just to see her make. My 14 year old went against her own grain and took a huge (to her) social risk. She went out for the track team even though it scared the doo doo out of herself. I could not help but squeal and hug her. No try-outs, Just a walk-on team …but it took guts in a brand new school, in a brand new sport.
I am so friggin’ proud of my family.
What’s next? A whole week with my husband home and my stepson, too. A photo shoot with Twinsanity, a family-packed Thanksgiving at my cousin’s house where I may or may not freak out and overeat/drink, the realization that last year we threw out the Christmas tree and if it weren’t for my 2+ week long period that I’m going to see the doc about on Monday, tons of sex. In other words, a lot.
But no reason not to post. My bad.
(Nobody really reads blogs anymore though, do they?)

I still read blogs – when I have time! Sounds like this week will make up for some of the craptastic handouts of last week.
That’s awful! My week was a little like that, just not quite so expensive. I hope the next is better.
You gotta love a post that includes Yiddish words! Stick with me, kid, I could teach you a whole bunch more – and they all sound just as funny as verklempt. Here’s to a better week!
Yes, they DO read posts. Verklempt is a great word!
Did you record her speech? I would love to see it!
I still read. Sometimes. But I don’t think a lot of people still do.
I’m so proud of both your daughters!
We do still read, we do. But some of us have taken a hiatus on writing (noooo, not me). And about the 2+ week period..oy vey (again with the Yiddish). Been there and we finally decided to yank the old baby maker out of there a few years ago. Best money I ever spent.
