July Natural Highs in Five

Thursday, July 9th 2009

1. Seeing myself in this month’s edition of our local magazine. I know. I’m totally famous now. (Getting Blogged Down/ Local Bloggers Speak out) Yes, you can email me for my autograph and I won’t even get annoyed about it.

2. Hiking up the mountain on July 4th and then running back down. “I feel like I’m in a video game!”, I yelled as I (in my mind) gracefully descended at top speed Lara Croft style. The day long after party was a blast, too.

3. Surprising my 9 year old with the news, “We’re going to Disneyland TONIGHT!” She could. not. even. process. the. information. We then flew from D.C. to San Francisco only to jump in the car and drive to Los Angeles. CRAZY.

4. Disneyland. Need I say more? Who ever crowned it the happiest place on earth knew what the H they were talking about. You cannot help but smile and laugh out loud there. My favorite ride? The Screamer. LOVED IT. (No, this video is not from our roller coaster ride on The Screamer but it did just just make me pee my pants a little so you should watch it.)

5. My first motorcycle ride. I was scared to death weaving through San Francisco traffic, letting out a litany of involuntarily expletives every time we white-lined but I have to admit, even though I always swore I would never get on his motorcycle with him, I had a blast with my husband today. Now I just need some cool gear. Really, white aerobic instructor shoes are NOT sexy on the back of a bike.

Tomorrow we head back to Virgina…
We’ll be returning to the arrival of the sweetest little Josie in the whole wide world! Good luck, Mere. I love you!

And how was YOUR week?

You love me. You really love me.

  • So glad you guys had a wonderful time. That “California Screamin” video is indeed hilarious.

  • I am mopey and sappy right now so all of my highs are the cry baby type.

Maybe I should go climb a mountain.

  • What kind of bike is it ???!!!
I can’t believe you can split lanes in California. We never do it when we’re there. NEVER. We were caught in rush hour traffic once in the Bay Area & this dude whizzed by & about 20 minutes later some ambulances (that could barely get through!) & then a few miles later, sure enough, we saw him on ground. No thanks!

  • Your week kicks ass! Ummm, my hot water heater didn’t need to be replaced? I bought 7 movies at blockbuster for $47? That’s all I got…

  • Looks like lots of fun! You guys sure know how to live.

  • Scan the article so I can read it. Please? I wanna see your celebrity self.

  • You’re so famous! I totally want your autograph!

I think you should change your mind and come to BlogHer so you can sign something for me! Like my Barbie.

  • Hope

Next time your daughter and you are in SF check out Crown & Crumpet. My daughter took her friend there for the friend’s birthday, and I was so jealous it seemed so fun.

If I am in the city, I will try and stop by and ask for your autograph, lol.

  • Chrissy

I just got to read your blog. You are totally Mother of the Year, maybe next year too!

  • I had my first ride on a Harley one year ago for my birthday. It was totally awesome! I might be ready to do that again.

  • so I’m getting here late, but let’s see – my week last week:
Monday – got notice of house showing on Tuesday evening, had to con sister into coming to keep E occupied, and con mom & aunt to come help clean as house was disaster and hubs was working… got irritated that E’s daycare lady gave her Tylenol twice in one day for being “fussy and warm”

Tuesday – had to leave work at lunchtime to pick up E and take her to doc as daycare lady was convinced she was sick (huh, low grade fever 99.6 and diarrhea really CAN be attributed to teething – AMAZING.) then stayed away from the house for our showing… which we received no feedback on.

Wednesday – had my Grand Opening (as my sister long-ago dubbed our Annual Physical/Well Woman Exam) and got an IUD (we LOVE E, but she’s only 6 months old… she doesn’t need a sibling for a little bit eh?) and found out that the first exam after giving birth leaves you feeling like you did in the weeks following birth… not fun.

Thursday – had a BBQ at our house with some family & friends, and hey – they house was already clean!! yay!

Friday – E’s first two teeth broke the surface and my delightfully happy girl re-appeared

Weekend – a lot of relaxing, hanging out with family, outdoor church & took E swimming in my gramma’s pool for the first time ever… she LOVED it (have pics in Picasa, and a link on FB if you’re interested)

this week has been fun too… work sucks (my boss will be back Monday after 3 weeks in France – THANK GOODNESS!) E’s 6 month check-up & shots went well (hubs freaked out about how far they stuck the needle in her legs – it was his first time at one of her appts due to his work schedule) but she handled them well… rest of the week she’s been slightly feverish and fussy – darn shots! had another house showing last night – no feedback yet, and today, well… TGIF. it’s all I can say. hubs is off work this weekend, going to relax a LOT.

and I think that book is done now. sorry for writing it as a comment to your post.

  • and I apologize for the typos… I need a nap.

  • Any reason as to why Disneyland and not Disneyworld?

  • Talk to me, Goose.
