Last night, I invited all the girls in my family (that I enjoy) over to my house for a birthday dinner/slumber party to celebrate my mother’s 61st birthday. The meal was Italian Potluck. My cousin Meredith brought the best fucking veggie lasagna I have ever laid teeth on. I had it for lunch AND dinner today (#totallyfailingmyweighinthisweek). My sister Ann Marie made a kick ass Asian Chicken appetizer and a chocolate peanut butter cool whip pie that I didn’t eat because I gave up desserts for Lent. My aunt Phyllis made a delicious tossed salad with homemade dressing. She left the remainder of it in my fridge and I must confess that I’m tempted to drink it right from the jar. Yes, it is that good. My friend Marina brought sausage & peppers that can only be described as orgasmic. Really, the meal, as a whole, was better than sex.

After dinner and after some wine, we told stories, looked at pictures from the 70’s of our mothers in racy bathing suits, listened to old cassette tapes of baby talk and my early raps, laughed until there was slight bladder leakage and played a fairly cutthroat game of Pictionary. What can I say? We is some crazy bitches.

Two of these ladies are pregnant. The chic on the top left is my sister Ann Marie. She is 18 weeks along and has her ultrasound (read: will find out the sex of her baby) next week. The gal in the top middle row is Meredith. She is 20 weeks and goes for her ultrasound tomorrow. TOMORROW!

My daughters used the flip video camera to interview my aunt & mom about different times in their lives. They were looking for dirt TMZ style but what they got were stores about Kansas and rainbows. Later, the interviewees tried to review the footage.

It was a hair raising experience! (bah dum bum)
Seriously though, it was a very special night. This morning, after some coffee, bagels, eggs & fresh pineapple, we went out into the freezing fresh fallen snow and took a group picture (because we look HAWT in the morning after lots of wine).

And because it was her birthday, nobody commented on my mother’s climate changing eye wear.
Totally kidding, Mom. Love you. Happy Birthday!
