A wise woman once said that it takes a village to raise a child. Well, apparently, the blogosphere may play a part in getting mine to college.
Last weekend, my 9 year old burst into the house waving a letter and clutching a priority mail box to her chest.

I’ll admit, we had to look up a couple of the words. We figure BackpackingDad is pretty damn smart. Smart and as kind as they come. (And now in print!)

Yep, thanks to my (our) new favorite Daddy blogger,
I’m going to need to get a real job and start saving up for tuition.

That was so awesome of him! What a great guy.
I was a single mother of three and never had any money to save, but I always told my children that if they wanted to go to college, we would find a way. My son joined the Air Force, where he is still studying for his degree while on active duty, stationed in Maryland. My oldest daughter was a National Merit Scholar and received a full four year academic scholarship to the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. The baby girl worked her way through State University of West Georgia with Hope Scholarships and Pell Grants. They all found a way to get the education they wanted.
I am very sure your daughter will find a way, too. She seems to be smarter than the average bear.
:}
Now I’m all “dude, did you proof read that sucker before you sent it out?” and frantically reading it to check for spelling errors. Looks like I misspelled “endeavours”, which I usually write with the Canadian “u”.
I’m really, really glad she liked the stuff.
What a sweetheart!
Awwwwww.
Awww…so awesome.
How sweet is that? Love that letter!
Of course Backpacking Dad ROCKS!
Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus.
Awww, what a sweetheart! That was so nice of him.
And that totally sounds like something a PhD candidate at Stanford would write.
I still think you should encourage her to go to Arizona State.
He’s such a geek. But he’s a lovable geek that I’m proud to call my friend.
Now, best wishes to your future Stanford student and may all of her academic dreams come true.

What a wonderful guy. Glad your little girlie is having rewarding experiences like this that lead her to remain excited about a quality college education. Fantastic!
