Three tickets to see the Jonas Brothers - $75

Concert Snacks & T-shirts $150

Watching my 13 year old enjoy her first concert while my 9 year old hung from my back, singing and smiling the August night away…

Heck yeah, it was priceless.

What was your first concert?

If you really love me, feed me in your reader!

You love me. You really love me. Dontchya?

  • The Jackson Five. On my fifth birthday. Back when Michael was still somewhat human. My mom was the coolest ever, just like you.

Damn. That was FORTY YEARS AGO!

  • The first concert I ever attended was Big Mountain. They sang “Baby I love your way” on the Reality Bites soundtrack. I was 14 and I felt so cool.

  • My very first - Alan Jackson. But my fav memory has to be the Avril Lavigne concert. My hubby joined me (we were dating) and my sister and her boyfriend came along too. I was about a quarter of the way through the concert when I looked around (really looked) and realized I was the oldest person there (outside of my three guests) without a child who I brought to the concert. I was stunned. Was I getting older? Moments of panic. But the cool thing was, I didn’t care. I closed my eyes kept singing and banged my head to the grunge music anyway.

  • Although I went to a couple of teeny bop concerts (”The Heywoods”, “The DeFranco Family” my first real concert was Elton John at Anaheim Stadium. It was so magical and overwhelming that I kept finding myself crying. I sang along at the top of my lungs to every song he sang. I had laryngitis for 4 days after the concert.

I was aghast at the casualness people were passing around joints. I was 15 and thought that I had been around the block a few times but it was made obvious to me that I had been pretty sheltered.

  • Ok, I’m an idiot. It was Dodger Stadium, not Anaheim Stadium.

  • i will NOT show this post to my Emily. she would be dripping with envy. she’s dying to see the Jonas BRothers.

  • STYX… 1982

  • New Kids On the Block, baby. And it was AWESOME.

  • You’re such a cool mom. I bet that was fun, actually! I like me some Jonai (plural form of Jonas!) They are sooo much better than Miley Cyrus and most of those teen groups.

My first two concerts were George Straight at his peak in a rodeo arena and Night Ranger. It was the Seven Wishes tour and they came out of a giant genie lamp at the beginning. ROCK ON! (grin)

  • I wonder if that’s how my mom felt when she took me to see George Michael (FAITH tour baby!) and the whole row was standing on their seats . . . we broke the bench with all of our dancing!

You are officially the envy of every 13 y.o. girl now, you know!

  • My first concert I was in second grade , I think, my dad took me, it was a sunday and we had to tell my brother I had to go to school and daddy was taking me cause he wanted to go with us… He took me to see shaun cassidy… I had such a crush on him as a kid…

  • Bon Jovi (Joan Jett opening). I must admit I was already in college, though. You cool parents paying all that money - you definitely beat my parents in the cool category.

  • My first concert was Whitesnake. You wanna know how to take that and make it more awesome? Great White opened for them.

  • AM

My first concert was Oasis when I was in high school. For some reason I was not allowed to go to concerts until I was 16. Such a drag.

  • You had such a strict mother, AM!! My first concert (you’ll laugh) was Kenny Rogers. What a show!

  • Heaven help me, but it was Loverboy. My son saw Billy Joel last year at 10 for his first concert.

  • Jeannine

First concert - KISS - in 1976. I won’t even tell you how old I was. A group of us er um pre-schoolers would charter a bus, bring along two parent chaperones b/c that’s just the way we roll and ride on up to the Capital Center in Largo Md. from an hour away in Fredericksburg.

Kiss was followed up by Peter Frampton — “voicebox era” and the Eagles. Glory days my friend.

  • awesome!

  • Billy Joel! Saw him 22 years ago when I was 17 at the Tacoma Dome. I’ve seen him in concert three more times since! I saw him this year in Seattle. The man might be old and bald, but he’s still got it. Heh.

  • Journey, courtesy of my dad. Had a fabulous time til I found out he had passes to a post-concert party with the band and we weren’t going. Hmmm … I can’t think of ANY reason not to take a 13yo to something like that, can you?

  • So for $150, did the Jonas Brothers SERVE the snacks? Uh. I was 18 before I went to a concert. My mother was NOT cool like you. Now I’m going to have the GO-GO’s singing “We’ve Got the Beat” stuck in my head for the rest of the night. ” …Everybody get on your feet! Jump bayack then turn round and round and round, Woo!…”

  • Van Halen! You know my age. :/

  • Aww, I’m glad they had a great time. You’re a cool mom!

  • Chrissy

I think it was The Cure or Journey. How wierd is that? Just the two groups in the same sentence is frightening.

  • BP

Sorry I missed this one honey, you know what a huge Jonas Brothers Fan I am. Second only to Hanna MonCyriss. My fist concert was Tina Turner. I am much more a fan of Ike’s work, especially with his shoe.

    Love you.

    BP

  • Glad everyone (including you!) had a great time! I do not find them cute, but I admit I have a few of their songs on my iPod.

I think my concert was either New Kids on the Block, or Johnny B, who is a local radio DJ who sings parodies of hit songs.

  • Speak Up. You Know You Wanna.
