I confess, when I first met Susan in 2006 at an elementary school function, she frightened me a bit. She had (still has) more energy and enthusiasm in her pinkie finger than I can muster up in a calendar year.
It was as obvious as headlights on a tractor that she was not from around these parts. Being a recent transplant myself, I thoroughly enjoyed spectating as she attempted to massage her Yankee ways a little to the South.
It was when she started doing her twirls in my Jazzercise class that our Momhood turned into Friendship. In fact, we were in training to become instructors together when she called me about her change of heart.
“Miss Kim, don’t hate me but I’m going to bow out this time around. I feel like I need to concentrate on my writing right now.”
It turned out to be one hell of a sound decision. She got her book deal with Penguin only months later.

Susan surprised me with a pre-copy of Confessions of a Counterfeit Farm Girl a few weeks ago and asked me to give it “an honest review”. Of course, I was thrilled to comply. (I may or may not have squealed and/or clapped with glee while bouncing on my tippy-toes.)
Why I Loved Confessions
First, she mentions me in the book. Hello? SusieQ, you had me right there.
The setting is Fauquier County, Virginia which is also where I live. If you’re looking for a slice of life in The Ding Dang Woods (and I know you are if your reading me), you have found your book.
This is a story about a woman and her family acclimating themselves to country (really, really, really country) life after living in a totally opposite kind of place. Although I’m not a Jersey girl, we moved here from San Francisco so saying I can relate to the heroine in this novel is an understatement and a half.
The book, like the woman, is witty, devilish, honest and laugh out loud funny. Susan tells it like it is whether the subject is marriage, cow poop or the myriad of similarities between them. I’m telling you, she’s brilliant.
I am so PROUD of her. She worked her little, bony ass off on this book and it is indeed a gem. Go, Susan!! And go you, to Amazon to pre-order! You’ll thank me. I promise.
Okay, not really…but in Chapter 37 Susan writes about almost getting a tattoo. What she left out was when she actually got the damn butterfly. Yeah, I was there to document it for posterity.
*ahem* I’m assuming that will be in her second book.
Right, Suz??
xo

The book sounds great. I will stop in a buy one as soon as it is released. She sounds fascinating and intriquing. Thanks for the heads up. So are mentioned by your real name or did she give you an alias?
