Finally

The bridal shower for my sister on Saturday was a grand, old time. Even the weather was on its best behavior saving raindrops until the last few guests were headed to their cars while on the lookout for the bear that was spotted by a neighbor. But let’s begin at the beginning, shall we?

Chocolate Fountain Heaven

Melissa once again set up her masterpiece of chocolate heaven and we all bowed before her as we poked her homemade rice krispie treats into the river of sin she so generously provided for the occasion. Of course, her chocolate matched the bridal shower colors of brown & pink. Being a Chocolate Fountain Fairy Godmother, she’s magic like that.

Favors

The tanks were made with love by Kristen. The coolest shower favors ever? That’s what I heard.

Once everyone met, mingled and had a few glasses of wine, we got down to business. No, not wrapping the bride-to-be in toilet paper. Being the civilized bunch that we are, we held a Bridal Shower Dance Off.

It was the Pink Team dancing to “Straight Up” by Paula Abdul vs. the Brown Team dancing to “Let’s Get Married” by Jagged Edge and Run. (Thanks NinjaPoodles, you get a tank, baby!)

I don’t happen to have pictures of the Brown Team because I was too busy bustin’ a move. And it came as no surprise when we won. I mean, really, how can you watch my mother do the Cabbage Patch and NOT award us the gold?

Shower Bouquets

After all the aprons and spatulas were unwrapped, the cake sliced and one almost-bride was drenched in love and pool water, we relaxed in the hot tub under the stars. It was a perfect party if I do say so my damn self.

And later? My sisters, my mother & I practiced the Brown Team’s dance and even added on because, holy hell, we’re doing it again.

At the wedding reception. Holla!

  • I’m still working on my ‘cabbage patch’ to perfect it for the wedding. How I’m doing that whole routine in my floor length formal is beyond right now! Carefully, I suspect. I hadn’t planned on dancing and would have been content to be a ‘judge’ but was persuaded by my daughters so I also persuaded my fun SIL and MOG to dance as well. Lots of fun! Glad we did it – the jazzerize moves all came back to me…eventually.

  • Glad I didn’t stay to dance.

Your family is delightful! The only thing better would have been if Nana could have been there.

Glad Kristen and I didn’t get pulled over after picking up the fountains. Your sister makes a mean spiked punch!
