Hopefully, Mother’s Day for you and/or your mother was splendid indeed. Here in Petroville, it was a Girly-girl love fest. As it should be…
My daughters let me sleep late, brought me a Luna bar covered decorated with some sort of weed petals (shut up) in bed and sang “Happy Mother’s Day to You” to the tune of Happy Birthday. Afterwards, they presented me with these homemade cards. *sigh*

Yes, I am the butterfly. I’m not sure what that means exactly but the fact that my 13 year old wrote me a poem means more than I can even express to you. The bonus? She be-dazzled it. And my baby, my 8 year old made me a pop-up card. Damn, I love those girls.
In other news, I wrote a post over the weekend that asks the question: How old is too old to use the internet and not feel as though you need to wear foil on your head to prevent your identity from being stolen. I’d love your thoughts.
Yes, that’s where I’m sending you off to.

Hey – my kids gave me a handful of the same weed – er – flowers this weekend. Loverly!
On being too old to fear identity theft: I figure, any unscrupulous waiter could copy down my card info about as quick as any hacker could lift it from a “secure” website. I have no fear of the internet and have a general faith in humankind that most will use their powers for good and not evil. No difference to me. But I’m only 40. My MIL is in her mid-60s and only recently will order stuff over the internet (”I bought it on the WEB!!”
but has yet to sign up for any automated bill payment or banking options. Because, you know, it’s FUN to drive 20 mins into the bank in Town to pay bills, deposit checks, etc. WhatEVER.

I was gifted with handmade cards, too. (Oh, how I love them) however, since I have all boys, I got anime action figures drawn all over mine so there was no bedazzling, dammit.
I feel a little gypped.

I would ?Answer your question by stating that no one should copy Avitable as his foil hat is Bejewelled!

LOL I had no idea Avitable had a foil hat. We use that phrase a lot in my family to make fun of my ex-step-father. He thought if he put a layer of foil between him and well, life, that he would not catch cancer. I’m sure it works with the internet too.
Now you have confirmation in a physical form that your kids love you – homemade cards. They are the best!
