Wednesday night, my sister spent the night in Petroville. She teaches 5th grade way out in Maryland and is on Spring Break this week. My kids were still in school so we thought, “What better time to get drunk off our asses on cheap red wine and make good use of a hot glue gun?”.

We attempted to assemble all of her 100 invitations that night but besides the wine being really cheap and almost toxic, we ran out of ribbon. At that point, we resorted to making fun of family members (like my Nana who thinks that her dress color should be listed on the invitation) and conjuring up of all of the crazy things that could happen at the wedding when my entire family is under one roof with an open bar. Wailing grandmothers and plum pantsuits, oh my!

More about the wine: When I asked her what kind of wine it was, she replied, “It’s red wine. I got it on sale at the Wine Store.” For some reason, this reminded me of the game we used to play as kids called Mall Madness and I laughed so hard that my teeth turned purple.

The next morning after much coffee and more asprin, we went to the craft store to purchase the 70 additional feet of ribbon we needed to complete our task. What happens when two hungover dummies (one a teacher…did I mention that?) try to do simple math in the ribbon aisle? I’ll tell you. They feel like idiots when they get home and discover that they do not have NEARLY enough ribbon to finish. Oh, and they also find out that it is a lot harder to tie tiny cute pink bows when hungover.

Here you see Lillian and Jack trying to help the dummies. Or eat the glue sticks. Which ever.

The best part was seeing her in her dress again the next afternoon at the fitting.
Beautiful, huh?
Today is the first day of Spring Break for the kids so we are getting their hair cut and going to the mall. While I am at the salon, I’m going to inquire about a plan to get back to my roots - blonde, that is - as soon as possible.
My dark period is over.
And that’s all I have to say about that.

Back to your blond roots - ahh good.. all will be right with my world again… I’m still not used to the brown… I’m still shocked every time I see you with dark hair. What can I say, I don’t do change well.

I like the blonde better too. I love the dress. When is the wedding?
My stomach is still recovering from the Spanish “red wine”. I have learned my lesson about buying wine on sale. I think I will stick to the brands I know.

Nana’s dress color should be on the invitation???
I’m going to try and get a look at ‘the dress’ this weekend.
Good pictures - I can imagine the fun you guys had! The dress looks like it fits fine! As beautiful as I remember it! Thanks for the picture!
your sister has my absolute favorite type of profile - she’s beautiful. That’s the dog I had a moment with when I got stuck outside on the grass in high heels.
This is your dark period? Emotionally? I got a headache just reading about red wine from a mall.
