2008 is full of big birthdays in our family. My sister turned 30 in January, my mother turned 60 a couple of weeks ago, my daughter turns 13 in May and my Nana will turn 90 in June. Party, party, party. Oh, yeah…and I’ll turn 35 in July. However, I’m going to drown that last one in a vat of vino and when I wake up on the other side of it, I may deny all further knowledge of the date whatsoever. Anywho…
My mother turned 60 on February 24th but we were only able to celebrate it yesterday because, as you can see below, she was off gallivanting around the Caribbean with a man until then.

…but good Lord in heaven, we need to burn those shoes.

The title is right, folks. It was indeed the best lasagna I’ve ever made or had.
Serious yummage.
We’re a nice bunch of kids.

Plus, she drools a little.

A ruby, a sapphire and a garnet (2 out of 3 ain’t bad) all in one beautiful setting.
Yes, she cried when she read the description. Awwwww…see? We’re sweet girls.

Gallavanting, and lasagna, and jewels. Oh my!
I’ll have to take a look at that recipe.
Looks like you gave your mother a beautiful party.

Aww, Happy Birthday to K’s. Mom!
Looks like she had a grand time. And we will not mention the white sandal shoes with the dark pantyhose again. Honest.

“Plus, she drools a little.” <—- why I love you!
Happy Birthday to your mom!!!! I am glad it went well!
I am such the luckiest of mothers! I guess based on the fact that only shoes have to go, you liked the dress!
Thanks to all of daughters for making this a very special birthday!!
Hey, it is not my fault I was born in a month with a lame birthstone!
The dress is cute but I couldn’t agree more about the shoes. Almost there, Mom.
My mom’s last b’day was the day after Thanksgiving. She and NewHubby hung around so I could take them to lunch, then a-gallivanting they went, to Florida, for the winter! And there has been more gallivanting since… daytrips, cruises… I hope when I’m in my 60s, I am doing much gallivanting.
Thanks to your cool comments field, which alerted me that I was not spelling “gallivanting” correctly!
Happy birthday to Unga Chunga!

What a beautiful gift for your mom! Happy Birthday to her! Hope she has lots of “galivanting” in her future.
And don’t feel bad, my 35th is next month . . . I think I’ll run and hide, pronto!

Awww – your mom looks great, she’s beautiful!! I knew before I read the description that it was each of your birthstones. I love that idea!!
My Mommy’s birthday was on the 9th. It’s birthday month everywhere I turn! and I just turned 38, so you can never complain around me. It’s good to have older friends. It keeps things in perspective.
I was kinda thinking put a platform on that heel and rock those shoes out.

What a wonderful party!
And goodness, your mom does NOT look 60! Someone passed along some great genes, or your mom was heavy on the sunscreen.
My mom turns 70 this August. I have no idea what my sister and I are planning. I have a feeling it’s going to get too big, too fast, but – as with all big parties – they all turn out well in the end.
Happy birthday to your Mom! Y’all are good daughters… but you have a great Mom, so of course you are!!

How sweet! Looks like your mom had a wonderful birthday. I’m gonna have to agree with you on the shoes. The guy doesn’t look so awful, which is a relief. And that lasagna makes me wish I wasn’t deathly allergic to cheese. I can’t believe you and I are the same age. Isn’t it a little freaky hitting “mid-thirties” ??? It’s just now starting to gross me out a little that I just keep getting older.
