…is take down my damn tree. Instead, I’m fidgeting, brainstorming, emailing, researching, soul searching and biting the inside of my lip.
My Christmas funk has lifted even though my house currently looks like I have every intention of keeping the spirit alive for a few more weeks. I just haven’t been able to bring myself to touch the stuff. I must say that I was never happier to yank the plug out of the seasonal socket than this year. Oh go, all ye faithful!
It no one’s fault but my own that I’m turning into a holiday hater. Everyone was generous and kind, albeit cautious. There was no drama except for what I created (and that’s no fun). So between the post-holiday-clear-headed me and a bit of therapy, I’m hoping to get my new year off to a good beginning.
Last year, I monetized both of my hobbies, blogging and Jazzercise. In 2008, I’d like to take it a step further. Maybe I’ll start my own business. Maybe I’ll teach more classes. Maybe I’ll go back to school. Maybe I’ll have an early mid-life crisis and dye my hair and almost divorce my husband (oops, that’s a repeat).
I dunno. I’m thinking though. And fidgeting, brainstorming, emailing, researching, soul searching and biting the inside of my lip.
But what I really need to do is take down that freaking Christmas tree!
Have you taken your decorations down already?
Happy 2008!

There’s nothing wrong with taking some time to sort everything out before taking action. You’ll get there.
The tree is down. But the “this is just vacation, not REAL life” fog still remains.

I am also supposed to be taking down my tree. At this point, I am tempted to throw a sheet over it and hide it somewhere in the basement!

The end of the holidays is a little bitter-sweet for me. As much as I love them, and love being with family, sometimes it’s just too much.
Oh, and yes, my tree was taken down on the 30th of December!

I feel just like you. My tree is up too and it desperately needs to be taken down.
I just took ours down this morning…but the garland is still on the banister. Sigh. I’d better get on that.

I’m not a holiday hater, but after Christmas was over I definitely had the ” holy crap, what was that?” feeling all over. So no, sadly I don’t have my tree down either. It took me a whole week to recover from holiday post funk or whatever it was. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. January 6th definitely sounds promising…
Ug.
I hear you on this one.
My tree is sitting in my living room shedding its needles at an alarming rate and I have zero desire to do one thing about it.

You come help me take down my tree and then I’ll help you take down yours. Lots of wine involved. Deal?
We took ours down on the 28th, I think. I love getting all that stuff put away. And I’m always glad when Christmas is over because I have a hard time with the disruption of routine. I like the feeling of a fresh start in January.

We took down the tree on January 1st and I was ready, although for the first time in year, I did not have the post-Christmas burn-out. This is because we escaped up to Tahoe and got away from all the fam stuff.
Good luck with your personal search. Remember, you have lots of time to figure it all out. Take your time, enjoy the quest, and remember that it’s the journey that counts and that you are already perfect just the way you are. If you ever need someone to mull it over with, I’m here.

Holidays are like houseguests – I’m happy to see’em come, happy to see’em go. Taking the tree down and getting the house cleaned and put back in order always makes me feel better, clears my head so that I can think about what I would like to do in the coming year. What I’ve decided to do is just hang out because I’m really gifted in that area.
My tree went up on the 24th in the morning, and it came down on the 26th. :-) I still have Halloween decorations outside on my front porch, I might leave them up all year long and give my neighbors something to talk about.
I’m so happy that the holidays are behind me, but now I need to decide what to spend my Christmas money on. Botox? Personal trainer? New clothes????

Tree down, tinse; and lights and baubles and other shiny shinies and cards all down and OH MY GOD it looks bare.
