Tomorrow I’m going for my biannual hair appointment. I usually just get a 2 inch trim and go along my merry way. God blessed me with natural curls and they work for me. Amen.
When I was on the phone booking the appointment, my stylist ended with, “Let’s try some more color this time. Why don’t you look through a few magazines and bring me a picture of what you like. We can get really creative!”
Seriously, she was more than excited. Being that I am female and we were talking about my hair, I got excited too. A new me? Moi?
Hmmmmm…
I started searching for my new style with we had around the house and I soon realized that American Girl mags weren’t going to be the source of any kind of inspiration.

Off to the market I scurried to retrieve a handful of hair magazines but I really didn’t find much there either. Too much ground to cover, I guess. More evidence to my ever-growing case that I am meant to have a personal shopper/stylist/trainer/chef of my very own. Why is this so ridiculous to my husband?
Anyway, I did spot an ad this morning that peaked my interest. There is a website called TheHairStyler.com where you can load your own picture and try on hairstyles like you try on hats in the store.
Ooooooooo…
Okay, these actually look like my current style with a little color enhancement.
Very safe.
Here we get a little daring. Not sure I have the time for all this though.
Kimberly stars in Friends along side KimmySpice.
If wanted to take an hour and blow out my hair every morning, I could look like this.
Or I could cut it all off and just wash and go fro.
Finally, I could just bite the bullet and do what we are all so afraid of doing…

I could become my mother.
Either way, I need to stop screwing with my new favorite toy. Holy crap, I’ve been sitting here for 2 hours! I’ll let you know how it goes tomorrow.
Wait…before you go, do you have a favorite?

I like the straight medium. Something very very different.
Um, Kimberly? Sweetheart?
She said COLOR - some more COLOR - not “let’s completely ruin God’s gift to hair”.
I’m telling you, I know of what I speak. (Oh, and the first four are the same style with different product and styling techniques. Again - with the knowing here.)
This is a perfect example of “if it aint broke, don’t fix it.” Your hair is beautiful!! If you want an occasional change, just buy a straightening iron. You could always just have her add a couple of highlights around your face, but other than that I say don’t mess with perfection!
I love no130. I’m so jealous of your curls!
I have the straightest of the straightest. It’s long and boring now, but my stylist is really dying to cut it and I have an appointment right before Christmas. Is this site worth the $15 to join and try on all the hair?
For me, it’s worth the $15 - but I will totally play with it for the 3 months. My 12 year old will too. It’s kind of addictive.
349. It’ll work both straight and curly. I just had bangs put back in yesterday myself.
HA! I love the last one, as I am sure mom would too!!

This stuff rocks… smells good and completely changed my life.
Cripes, I sound like a commercial. Seriously, though a good product makes all the difference. That and layers.
Oh god the temptation to bookmark is too strong. Am never going to sleep again!
I adore your hair just the way is is but if you want to go for something different I agree with the whole buy straighteners thing.
Leave your hair alone. It is beautiful. Don’t let that woman futz with it!!!!

I love changing my hair, so as much as I love your hair, I say go for and try something new! It always makes feels so good when I can do that.
#349 - definitely. It has multiple layers - so there’s no making sure every hair is in place. Looks like a fluff and go do. However, there will be bang trimming.
Monthly. I do my own. You can do yours. Or go to (gasp) Supercuts and pay them $5 for the bang trim.
i love the number 8 on you. But it would mean straightening those beautiful curls.
I’m kind of lame, but I like the first one. The one that looks almost exactly how your hair already looks.
No help here…
Just found you via Antique Mommy (long story) but being a curly haired gal I had to put in my 2cents. I found it interesting that you said you were “blessed with curls”. Never really felt that way personally. BK (before kids) I blew it out all the time, now AK (after kids) not so much. I’ve come to terms with my curls I’m even starting like them a little, but feeling blessed with them? Not so much, maybe someday when I grow up and feel more mature (I’ll be 39 next week so don’t hold your breath on that happening).
Until I found a FABULOUS stylist I felt I had two hair cut options: Short or long. Now I don’t feel that way so much cause he’s so good at what he does. I played with color for a while; blond highlights cause mine are mostly red. I liked it a lot, but I had to MAINTAIN it. It got expensive & time consuming, blah, blah, blah…so I went natural. I don’t HAVE to color my hair (i.e.–I have no grey, knock on wood) and if you’re in the same boat I would leave it alone!!!! Your color is great the way it is, and regardless of your product, coloring will dry your hair out. It will affect your curl negatively. I’m just saying.
Ok, now that you’ve decided I’m a total freak, (I drop by the first time & immediately give you a lecture about hair color). But I feel passionately about us Curly Girls so I had to give you my 2cents on it.
I’ll be back, like the blog. :-)
Wow, could you like call me or something? Seriously, it’s less than an hour before I leave and now I don’t know what to do! You’re right about color working against the curl but I’m yearning for a change. Hmmmmm…
About being blessed with the curl, this is recent. I grew my bangs out 8 years ago and since then, I just scrunch and go. No blow drier, no curling iron, not much product. It’s easy and works well with my hair but I’m a girly-girl and like to play. You understand, right?
Okay, so I’m thinking : take a bunch off, long layers, goldish lowlights …
Wish me luck!
And thanks for stopping by
I like Straight Medium #8. Very chic. And if you didn’t want to straighten, it’s still long enough to not look fro-ish with the curls. And add in just a couple of dark low-lights on the under side. Playful!
