Trendy Taser Parties

Wednesday, November 14th 2007

Heard the latest? It’s being hailed as the new Tupperware party. Women like us gather to share a bit of wine and cheese in a neighbor’s home but instead of pouring over kitchen items, jewelry or slumber party toys, these ladies are placing orders for taser guns - and get this, they even come in pink!

These Taser Parties begin with a demonstration which is followed up by a discussion. At that point, you can place an order for your own taser gun if you choose.

Many women feel that carrying one of these around in their purse will keep them safe.

But is it legal?

According to the TASER® website, it is up to you to find out if you are legally allowed to own and or carry a taser gun in your state or city. and a background check is required for each purchase. Although it is legal for law enforcement and in many states for consumers, restriction apply in certain areas like Baltimore, Annapolis and the District of Columbia. Would you feel more secure having a taser weapon on your person?
If they are illegal where you live, would you take that risk in order to protect yourself?
How about the new trend in Taser Parties? Yay or Nay?

You love me. You really love me. Dontchya?

  • Well, why not? I feel more secure with my gun in my purse… Why not a different weapon? I would have to have instruction before carrying, though. Safety first!

  • Not for me. I took a few years of karate so that wherever I am, I have a weapon on me - ME! And that makes me feel a lot safer than holding a zapper that some kid could take from my purse and injure themselves or other with. Scary!

  • I don’t do parties…I hate showers, tupperware, home decor…any of those types of deals.
BUT, I do carry a black Stunzilla Stun Gun. It makes me feel somewhat more secure.

  • I wonder how they decide which poor husband has to help with the “demonstration”.

Actually, I think I would carry a taser. It’s more effective than mace, but not like DEADLY. I could never carry a gun.

  • What a shocking post (come on, somebody had to say it)

I Wyoming we all carry guns, so the person with a Taser loses that fight. But if it were that or nothing, I would want my wife to have one when she is out alone…

  • Beats the hell out of Tupperware parties.

Security is for each person to decide…but parties, who can argue with that?

  • I find this whole prospect sooo scary. I am pretty sure that if I carried a stun gun or even a regular gun I would be the one to shoot myself or have my attacker use my own weapon to hurt me.

I live in Orange County, Ca. and I have never felt the need to pack heat. Am I too trusting or just foolish?

  • LOL!!! I heard that broadcast on the way to Jazz. I think I’d like a pink one — except I’d probably end up tasering myself!!!

  • I’m not a’skeered, but I live in a fairly small town. I know, I know, crime can happen anywhere, but it’s not like the big city where it happens every 5 minutes.
I AM in a situation where I’m uneasy (like traveling to a big city) I usually take a gun, but I don’t carry it actually on my person. I figure more like, if I broke down on the side of the road or something, I wouldn’t feel “alone”, ha-ha!

  • I don’t think we would go for pink on the Enterprise.

  • This is when I feel happy that I’m living on the left coast.

Honestly, I can’t even take scrapbooking parties anymore, and I would be scared that if I tried to use that laser someone would think it was a gun and shoot me.

  • Leo

I don´t think giving stun guns to every man, woman, child and dog is a solution at all… first, criminals aren´t dumb, and will know after a few stuns that they have to kill first and then take the money… see? … and of course, there will be the guy/girl with the pacemaker that stuns him/herself to death… … It would be lovely seing the kids play outside again… with stun guns (their mom´s/dad’s)´ and of course, there will be then a black market for those too, as for every weapon, criminals will get them too as they rob people not to well trained… and then use them for crime.

… another great idea… get loads of marihuana for all those criminals, they will be too high to do anything at all! HAHAHAHAHA

  • I wouldn’t carry one, as I think that having a weapon is just asking someone to use it against you.

On the other hand, I like the idea of more average citizens being armed, because that fact in and of itself frightens most criminals and makes the streets safer for us all.

And heck, if people can have parties for “personal massagers” and the like, why not a taser? They’re both the same amount of taboo after all.

  • So how do you demonstrate these?
