Halloween, I mean.
Yes, I know that all of the stores are gearing up for Christmas already but I urge you to just ignore those capitalists. What’s the dang rush, I ask you?
With Halloween 2 weeks away, I’d like to see what you have planned. Are you dressing up? What will you be? Are you hosting a party? A contest?
Speaking of contests, Leanne is holding her annual Pumpkin Carving Contest.

Even if you don’t participate, make sure you stop by to view all of the spooky creations and vote on your favorite. The winner gets a $25 Amazon Gift card as well as a signed copy of Lisa Sabin-Wilson’s long anticipated book Word Press for Dummies. (Oh, I so need this.)
My plans? Besides the normal classroom parties and trick or treating, my Jazzercise center is holding a costume contest. I am in need of ideas for a costume that I can work out in. Got anything for me? I’m thinking of just cutting my toga into a mini skirt edition but I’m worried I’ll get too tangled.
Help.

I’ve been invited to a few Halloween parties, although one invite came from one of my student employees - and I think that just might be a little weird… a 27 year old hanging out with a bunch of drunk college kids… some of whom will probably be underage… (my student is 21)… yeah. I’m thinking no on that. Anyway - if I go to the other I’m going to repeat a costume I wore a couple of years ago, I’m borrowing my sister’s pinstriped suit (fitted of course) and getting my fedora, plastic machine gun and swisher sweets to finish out my mafia girl/gangster costume… not the most creative by any means, but it’s cheap, easy, and I like it!
I’m not very helpful in the Jazzersize costume area… maybe something that you can wear pj’s for… hmm… if I think of anything I’ll send you a note…
by the way - day three for me of no candy eating and I haven’t even been tempted yet… is it going well for you?
Oooooo, you’ll look marvi as a gangsta!
Yes, I am doing well with my no candy promise. The big glass pumpkin half filled with peanut m&ms does occasionally tempt me but I have not given in. However, right before I published my no candy post, I finished off a pack of twizzlers (my fav). I think that will pull me through.
Good for you for staying true! We’re going to look & feel so good this holiday season! Go us!
Well my standard reply of Go As Duct Tape actually seems to fit here…
A mini askirted toga would look good, as would the gangster outfit Toots wore in my Journal recently.
I wish someone would have a party so I could go as Amy Winehouse! (Black out a tooth, draw on some tats, get a black wig and tease it up, get really drunk.)
Other than that, we’ll be carving pumpkins and passing out treats to rugrats. And Petunia is being SuperGirl.
Uh… wonder woman. Yes. You should be a blonde wonder woman.
Golly, I think you have to be a woman to play here.
Do you go to Starbucks? Last year they lent me an apron and hat. Easy costume.
My hubby and I are hosting a mock-Thanksgiving dinner complete with pumpkin pie and pumpkin carving. I’m super psyched. I miss pumpking carving. I haven’t done it in years.
Okay…I really need to know more about this. Are you having a mock Thanksgiving for Halloween? Please ’splain.
If you are going to have a leotard on anyway, why not just through on a tutu and be a ballerina?
