Today was an all day Jazzercise day. I woke up and taught the 8:45am class - which is no real treat on a Saturday but I worked it proper and sweaty. Then I headed to our district meeting which is held twice a year at the local community college.
For the first part of the meeting, they had us working out so you know I smelled utterly delish. Meanwhile, I’m all trying to be cheery and say hello to people when this girl comes up and says,
“I’m sorry but I have to interrupt. I just love your blog. You are so funny! You totally got me through my workshop. I’m ___________ (whahwhahwhah) and I just wanted to say hello..” or something like that - maybe better. I don’t know because I was so stunned that I think I lost bladder control for a bit.
I mean…freaking WOW. I have no clue who this chic is (even though she told me her name and I wrote it on my hand so as not to forget to google her later but ended up washing it off by accident) but she made me feel like a superstar for a second. (like SUPERSTAAAA)
A nice feeling even if ever so fleeting.
I’m so pissed at myself for forgetting her name. Did you know I was bad with names? Awful. Maybe the worst. I think it started with S…Sarah…Sandy..I dunno.
Meeting this girl, whose name I can’t remember due to the lack of proper brain cells, turned out to be the highlight of the day for me. I won’t go into my negative ranty rant due to a little too much wine swallowed by um….me but it turns out that everyone in that whole freaking meeting (and the jazzercise world) is being paid more than I am. I’m thinking of going on strike. Look for me on the news.
I’m pretty sure my sign will be misspelled.

LOL!!
You are underpaid? That’s a sin! She should be paying you double… of course 2 x 0 is still 0… See you tomorrow.

I’m horrible with names, too! But Josh is worse. If he is stressed out about introducing me at an office function, he forgets MY name.
If I see a hot blonde carrying a sign that says “FARE WAJES FOR JAZERSIZE TEECHERS” I will honk and wave, okay?
Please do. And maybe even pull over with some white out & help me fix my sign…
Hopefully she’ll read this, and let you know her name.
You da woman!
It was me! I drove to Virginia to stalk you. My real name is Susan, and I love your class!
(Seriously, one day I’m going to be in your Jazzercise class and you won’t know it. Well, guess I would be completely recognizable as the uncoordinated spaz who doesn’t know a step-ball-change from wheres-my-change??)
Three quick points, then I must run ot the parish picnic.
One, I am always grateful when people compliment me, but just sky-rocket when they praise something that *I* am particularly proud of. I did this song called “VANISHED” about Alzheimer’s. It’s a sorta spoken-word drama, where the narrator is looking for and worrying about his wife who simply vanished, along with all the other women in Thornton Gap, Virginia. (Yeah, it’s pretty wierd). Only in the last verse do you realize that he is the one who has vanished. Anyway, someone wrote me. She actually “got it.” Reminded her of her dad who was afflicted. I grinned like a school boy all day.
Point two, of course you are underpaid. You are an artist. You know what you call a musician who lost his girlfriend? Homeless. Do what you love.
Numero three & final — and this is totally unrelated, but might be fun for you or other moms to explore. I got wind of a game middle-schoolers here play. It’s called ZAP. It is the CUTEST thing EVER! I’ll email you the ZAP “rules.”
Enjoy this gorgeous day!

I tend to forget names right after, and people are disgusted when I have to ask again.
It’s because you had all those negative calories from all the working out that day!!! I’m sure she’ll understand.
Very cool for you to get recognition
I wanted to say that you also got me through workshop!! I’m glad that I am not the only one out there who came across your blog when the Workshop process began. You’ve put such a funny and realistic spin on Jazzercise and teaching -how could anyone NOT want to do it?? I teach my first real class this week and can say THANK YOU for being there when you didn’t know that you were!
