Worst School Picture Contest 2007

Email Me Your pictures. Click “Contact” above. Just do it!

My daughters are both having their picture days at school this week. You know the drill: you pick out a nice outfit, try to not have their hair sticking up and practice smiling with them a few times so they know how you want it to turn out. When you drop them at school they look perfect. Six hours later after having cafeteria tacos for lunch, running around at recess and finger painting all afternoon, they sit for their pictures. What you get back a month later (Portrait Package A - Two 8×10s, Three 5×7 and a Million wallets) looks nothing like the child you sent to school that fine day. But we never learn, right?

My mom loved, loved, loved those pink spongy curlers.

Curlers from Hell

She would have us sit on her bed while she rolled our hair, wrap a big ol’ scarf around our heads and send us to bed. To her it was like instant coffee, to us it was more like whiplash. Not only did we wake up the next morning and march to school with a bad Shirley Temple do but we had cricks in our necks to boot. Say Cheese!

k-1st grade

First Grade- Yes, she even rolled our bangs.

k-3rd grade
3rd Grade- Here she also cut my bangs. Too short? (Ya Think!)
What was with the ruffle collars?

Then in 5th grade, I got my revenge.
I cut my little sister’s bangs the day before dance pictures. Evil!

k&A

(see what I mean?? WHIPLASH!)

You love me. You really love me. Dontchya?

  • My best friend’s mom still had her sleeping with those pink rollers in her during junior high. But when we were 12, I think her mom was almost 60 and therefore, slightly behind the times as it were.

I’m sure those pink rollers haunt her dreams though to this day.

  • OMG my mom LOVED the pink rollers! They always kinked my hair right at the very end. I hated them. They always hurt getting taken out too.

Anyways, I’m in! Sending you an email now!

  • Amazing how picture perfect YOU looked! No drippy tacos for you at lunch - I just didn’t send any lunch with you that day and told the teacher to keep you in at recess. Actually no wind, tacos, rain, or recess was going to change the curl in your hair - at least not for 3-4 days.

Hey! I had the prettiest girls on Sunday morning - heads turned when we walked into Church!

I’ll come over and help you get the girls ready for picture day :yahoo:

  • I don’t remember ever going to school, so I guess I can’t play.

By the by, for Perfect Post notifications, I now have Office Word, so I can use the code in the way you have been sending it to others. Thanks for past accommodation.

  • Damn straight. I’ve got a 3rd grade photo that will bring down the house. Complete with a botched Farrah Fawcett hairdo. I’m soooo game!

  • I’ll see what I can find…

Oh, I’m sending you my picture from my sophmore year. I have to warn you, it’s a LIIIIIIIIIIIIITTLE scary.

  • OMG!!! LOVE the do-do curls. In fact, I’m just downright jealous. What I would have given for curled piggy-tails. Also, I see the early Jazzercise influence.

  • Although I doubt I can top my entry from the 2005 contest, I’ve sent you another bad hair/bad glasses picture. Apparently there is no end of humiliating pictures.

  • I don’t have a scanner…I’d win hands down!!!!

  • :yahoo:

    You crack me up…

Love the plaid jumper and your sisters bangs! I have most of my pics from school in the UK but I will see what I can dig up. One particular pic springs to mind. My squinty eye was shut and I had several teeth missing. A face that only a mother could love as my Granny used to say…

Our Middle Schoolers have pics this week too! Imagine the drama of the Tweens!

  • hmmm…I’m tempted. I have to say that its my freshman year…clear braces and frizzy hair. Oh boy.

  • i can’t wait!!! don’t know if i can find a school photo worse than the one i submitted last year, but i’ll look around.

  • :giggle: I sent you an email with a really silly picture of me taken a very very long time ago….I’ve never posted this…And I think you will see why! (lol)

  • Oh, I forgot to say…This was not an “Official” school picture, but it was at the school we went to in Florida…”back in the day”…. :giggle: :yahoo:

  • YEY!

Just sent you my pic :-)

  • Oooh! I want to play! I’ll e-mail a picture to you later today!

BTW - love your blog design. You must have an awesome designer! :winking:

  • When is the deadline to submit a photo? Is it the 25th? Thanks!

  • OMG, I have a picture of me in 5th grade with a step mother given bowl haircut, short shorts (step mom hated em) and a t-shirt that says “NO” (yup, step mom hated that too) and I’m riding my dads ATV (3 for 3 - she really hated that). I cringe just knowing I still have it!

Great contest idea (nice site too!)
