In February of 2006, we popped the champagne and rolled out the red carpet for you to pat one another on the backside. Here we are today still lavishing in the good feeling of such a supportive community. Our mission statement has been simple and we like it that way. The Perfect Post Awards are a chance to read some of the best stuff written each month- and to spread a little warm fuzziness, too. Joy Unexpected for No Good Deed Goes Undented
In the true spirit of these awards, I can honestly tell you that this post hung with me for more than days after I read it. Just last night I found myself wondering again, “Would I have given them the money?”. The answer is… I really don’t know. I would like to think that I would have but if we’re being honest (and we are – see above) maybe I would have sensed some paranoid scheme and fled while flashes of America’s Most Wanted flew through my mind. Sad but true.
Y says, “I looked over and saw his girlfriend and daughter sitting in the car and while my first reaction was to say “SCREW YOU” because seriously, dude, you just made me dent my brand new used van door and I hate you so much. But then, I thought about all of the things that have happened to me in the past few months and what if I had run out of gas and didn’t have any money to put more in? How could I NOT help?”
Go over and read her post and then ask yourself what you would have done. Y deserves more than a silly blog award. If I could, I’d like to give her a huge thank-God-there-are-people-like-you-in-this-world hug.
