Hot Damn

It was hotter than Haiti here today, as my sister would say.
My sister the school teacher and I’m not saying another word about it.

We celebrated my 3rd daughter’s 3rd birthday yesterday. I am officially one of those pet owners that I used to despise. I really do consider my dog my baby. In my own defense, she is the best dog I have ever known and she can talk. I usually interpret for her but that’s neither here nor there.

Here’s a picture of Lillian with her birthday present - a new squeaky bird to chew the guts out of - and a homemade card from my sweet human daughter.

She got the heron and some left over shake-n-bake chicken for dinner. She may not have known it was her birthday but she knew it was a damn good day up in here!

And here are the two Danes snoozing playing pawsies.

Jack is a good pup but not nearly as cool as Lillian. I can say that because they are not really my children but dogs. I play both sides of the fence, you see.

Tomorrow, or today depending on when you read this post, I will be getting a proper pampering. I am taking the day to visit my favorite spa with a girlfriend. I got a gift certificate for Christmas that I figure I’d better use before the kids get out of school or it will be next year before I get my pores sucked clean.

Hopefully my husband can get home early tomorrow night because a good massage (as well as the smell of self tanner) gets me really randy.

Hot Damn!

Your turn: Are you a pet owner that thinks of your pet as your very own child or do those kind of people make you gag on a rawhide?
No pet? Well, kindly explain that one.

If you really love me, feed me in your reader!

You love me. You really love me. Dontchya?

  • Enjoy the spa!! I’m very jealous. Those dogs are big dogs!!!!!!!

  • Cute pups! Do they always sleep like that? Enjoy the spa!!

  • Happy Birthday Lil!

Enjoy the spa! That sounds sooo amazing!

  • Before children I was a dog mommy. After they were born…not so much.

  • My cats are my babies. I am just this side of being the local “crazy cat lady”.

Happy Bday to Lil. She doesn’t look a day over 2!

  • We’re pretty nutso about our cats, but not as nutso as some. Since they came after kids, we have some perspective. Had they come before kids, I am sure they would have been ridiculously pampered.

I do think of them as people, though. Is that crazy? They talk to me. They have distinct personalities.

Maybe I am as nutso as some.

    Your dogs are beautiful!

  • AM

Hey, I don’t remember any “Haiti” comments. Refresh my memory.

Enjoy the spa, trust me, I wish I were there. 8 more days of teaching until summer!

  • A spa! That’s a lovely way to have a good time.

  • Oh hell, you know where I stand on the pet issue. Yes, they are my babies.

I can’t believe you just discussed getting RANDY in the blog that your MOTHER reads. Damn, girl.

  • I never manage to redeem spa gift certifictes.

Anyway, those pups are pretty darn cute.

As for pets vs kids,, I play both sides of the fence. I try not to play favorites because my husband does it. Of course, he favors our first dog. i gotta stick up for the baby.

  • I have four kids and three dogs. To be honest they all start to run together in my mind most days.

  • [...] dealing well and I don’t know how to tell my kids. Lillian is more than a pet to us. She is a member of our family and is truly & deeply loved. Right now, I am having a terrible time imaging my life without [...]
