Jack and Lil went up the hill
to fetch a bowl of water.
Jack fell down and broke his crown
and Lil came rumbling after.
No, I’m not a rapper. It’s from a nursery rhyme, remember??
After much debate and deliberation, we have chosen the name Jack to replace the ever-confusing Mo. I’m not sure of the name in it’s entirety at this point because there are currently many versions flying around the house. Jackson Mo Dane (my choice), Blackjack Mo Dane (my husband’s pick), Jack MojoJojo Dane (I like this one too), BobbyJack Dane (no way in hell) and MoJack Dane are just to name a few. Lil was also given a long name that we shortened : Lillian Spider Dane. She looked like a spider as a puppy with her gangly legs so my 5 year old chose that as a middle name. It’s only fair that Jack has some length to his as well…at least on his papers.
Thanks to Incredible Insomniac for inspiring the name choice. And thanks to all of you for the creative suggestions. Now I just have to deal with my Nana in a week. I can just hear her now…“JACK???!!!! J–AAACCKK???!! What kind of name is that for a dog? He should be Duke or King Henry or Brutus.” She got on my case so much when we named Lillian. She tried for months to get me to call her Duchess or Princess. Puh-leeze, I’m much too warped for that.
Speaking of warped, Lillian’s name came from Eddie Murphy’s movie “Raw”. You know…Lillian cannot go outside. Lillian cannot use the phone. Classic. That and the fact that it’s funny as hell to call a huge ass dog “Lil”. And it fits her.
Another reason we chose the name Jack? I’ve always said that if I had a baby boy, he would be named Jackson. Now I have my Jack. Jack and Lil.
Are you sick of me talking about dogs yet? Okay. I’m done.

HA! As if I would ever get sick of hearing about dogs.
Jack is so cute I can’t stand it. Good luck w. your Nana!
We moved to this house 29 years ago, and we had a dog named George. THa’s what our daughter had named him. George ran away, right after we moved in. THere I was in the wee hours of the morning, walking the streets calling “George ! George!” . I often wonder what the neighbors thought. George turned up at our old house.
I like it. I never give our animals typical pet names. Currently we have a Leo, a Chester, and a Bo. We’ve never had a “Spot” or a “Fluffy”.
What a great name! Now you have to tell us about him and his personality and how he’s fitting in and what everyone thinks of him… Don’t stop the dog talk yet!
OMG he is freaking gorgeous!!! Oh he is such a pretty dog! How about something having to do with the Jack of Spades, or Jack Attack from Incredibles or Jack the Ripper - just some suggestions!!!
Okay now for the apology part: I am an asshole, I totally should have called you. I owe you a long overdue phone call anyways!!! The trip was kind of last minute. I am sorry!!! :sorry:
My sweety big black cat was named Jackson. He’s gone to kitty heaven
and I miss him very much. It took me about two years to be able to talk about him w/out actually crying…well tears down my face..
When he was a baby kitty and it was time to name him I just didn’t know, and there he was..little black furr ball bouncing off the wall..Action Jackson is what he became..I miss him so.
Your Jack is beautiful..and those paws are mamouth.
:yahoo: What can I say? I’m honored! I like people names for dogs; I used to have a Yorkie named “Fritz Amadogus McGruff”. My family always teases me whenever that Barky von Schnauzer commercial comes on: “That’s a name you’d come up with it!”
That picture of Jack is just too cute. What a fine example of poochanity!
I can’t wait for you to ask people, “do you know Jack?”
Yes, endless possibilities. Good name and happy puppy training.
He is too cute!!! See I’m off the computer for a week and I miss all the fun of naming your new addition!
Ooo, I LOVE the name Jack, too. I would name a kid that if I had another boy…right before I killed myself.
Jack Sprat. Jack B. Nimble. And at Halloween put him in a pumpkin suit and make him Jack O’Lantern (works for St. Patty’s day too).
I can’t wait to meet your new dog, Jack! He looks so handsome. And yes, Nana will bitch about the name.
Jack
Oh, how embarassing. I got caught up in Desperate Housewives and pushed publish before I had finished my comment.
Anyway, Jack is sweet name. That’s what I was going to say.
Jack is an unbelievable Momma’s boy! He is glued to the hip of Momma and follows her into the bathroom if she let him. (Do you?) He’s at the toddler stage of extreme shyness and caution. He couldn’t figure out that I am ‘Momma’s momma’ - it will come with time. Lillian, on the other hand, seemed to need an overcompensation of love and affection from Momma’s momma to which I happily agreed.
Such dog drama watching the three canines figure out their place in the family hieracrchy - actually only two right now as Jack could care less.
He did let his guard down a couple of times and let me give him some loves! Have fun! I’ll come visit again soon!
I always thought I was going to marry Elvis…
And that is why I named my dog Elvis…
and all the dogs are mad about him… He truly is a rock star amongst dogs and humans alike…
I have a Jack as well. He is an English springer spaniel - black and white. i also have a brown and white spaniel named maggie. So glad you got a name for that cutie!
Awww. He looks like a Jack. Good job!
