Springing Up Lucky

Thursday, March 22nd 2007

Today, on the second official day of Spring, it feels very seasonal here in VA with sunny skies and temps in the 70’s. My nose is all itchy, there are buds on the trees and soccer practice begins tonight. Yes, folks, Spring has sprung in Petroville.

I spent most of the day as I will spend the greater part of the next 2 weeks: clearing out the house-that-shall-not-be-sold. It shall be sold, though. It shall be sold. My friend and I loaded up our cars full-o-my-crap and hauled it down to the consignment shop. I never want to see any of it again but a check in 30 days I’ll take.

So I’m feeling very positive due to the Spring cleaning = inner peace formula. Soon I’ll change my design to reflect the change of seasons. That is, as soon as Leanne can deal with my usual high maintenance demands. “Just make me pretty, dammit!” And she always does.

I’m so lucky to have such wonderful friends. Friends that help me sell my house and schlep all of the junk out if it. Friends that come to my class and support me. Friends that I can call to rescue my blog and give it a beautiful face lift time and time again. Friends that have my back when I get nasty comments. And friends that come to read, say hello and brighten my day. Does it get any better? I can’t see how.

As the season changes, so do things both home and family. My mother is in Italy hopefully having the time of her life and maybe even hot mad sex with a handsome Italian. My almost 12 year old daughter has announced that she would like to become a vegetarian and shaved her legs for the first time today. (My husband says we’re lucky because those two don’t always go hand in hand). My 7 year old daughter will begin participating in horse shows in April. My sister and her fiance finally picked a wedding date - 7/12/08. My husband will be briefing two Senators on Capitol Hill tomorrow. (No, this is not normal. Tomorrow - C-SPAN- be there) And me? I’m busy as a bee with pollen on her legs.

Has Spring sprung where you live? If so, what changes came with it’s arrival?

If you really love me, feed me in your reader!

You love me. You really love me. Dontchya?

Yes, we need a little Spring right this very minute.
Yes, we need a little Spring right now.

  • Somehow…somehow I managed to miss you were from VA. I knew east coast but thought Maine for some reason. Now that I know…I love you even more.

I miss VA. every single breathe of ever single day.

I’m insanely jealous that you are there everyday and that it is spring which is the bestest time to live there.

So, seeing I miss it every day and you are there every day, would you mind sending me a little piece of it everyday?

We’re heading there for vacation this summer and I can hardly wait as it has been 9 years **gasp** since I’ve been back.

I hope you love it as much as I do.

  • Spring has sprung here in North Texas. The trees are budded out, tulips and the like are up and the grass is turning green. The change of seasons means getting out after dinner time and visitng with the neighbors on the sidewalk while kids ride their bikes (rather than hybernating and eating). And of course the most important thing of all - I can start wearing flip flops again. Yay! That always seems to improve my attitude.

MommaK, MommaK. I just found you last week and yours was the first blog I ever read. Now I check every day for an entry. You are exquisite. You’ve inspired me to start a blog, although I have no clue where to start. Today I wrote my first entry and started with a 100 list. Perhaps tomorrow I will see what Leanne can do to help me publish it.
We still have 8″ of snow on the ground here in Massachusetts but it was in the high 50’s today and my kids and I had fun playing ice cream shop under the swingset with our beach bucket and scoop.
I too have a trip the consignment shop planned for tomorrow to sell all of my clothes that no longer fit because of how beautifully Jazzercise has transformed my body.
    Happy Spring!

  • Time to dust off the motorcycles.

  • I saw some green outside this week & a little bit of sunshine. Makes me almost want to clean the outside windows this weekend……or lay on the couch & watch basketball!!!

It is amazing how good spring makes you feel. I suddenly am looking forward to running again and I have more energy at night. It probably has a lot to do with the extended length of the sunlight that we have been enjoying.
So now that the date is set, I also feel excited to start getting down to business with wedding details. I can’t wait to hang out during my spring break!

  • “My sister and her finance…” So, I guess she’s fixed for life.

Hey, what kind of briefing is this? Tell all. (Oh, you want subpena, huh? Goin’ play tough, huh? Ok, I give.)

  • I always forget you’re in VA. Here in NoVA we have daffodils and crocuses in bloom. I can’t wait for the lilacs!! I love to garden, so I wait anxiously for spring every year.

This will be my first spring as a blogger. We’ll see how I manage to maintain two obsessions, a family, a job and little league all at once.

    Good luck to your hubby!!

  • Oh yes we have spring in my neck of the woods. Everything is covered in yellow pollen dust. We are moving next week and that is the huge change coming this spring. Love your blog :yahoo:

  • Spring? Yes. Allergies? Yes.

    What time tomorrow?

Ummmmm…..I’m cutting our meat intake down to two time a week because of my vegetarian wanna be, who by the way, still likes hot dogs, salami and pot roast.

    Tomorrow, pot roast.

I will send you the best vegetarian recipes as they come.

  • My goodness, we’ll have one scorcher of a summer to look forward too. It’s quite warm in Texas already. I thought we’re into summer.

  • What time is your class? What day?
Do we really make you smile?? :giggle:

  • I love Spring. I love warmer days and sunnier times.

  • The longer days & more sunshine are a wonderful wonderful thing! I’m feeling springy lately too. Love it.

I noticed our strawberry plants have survived the winter. Now if the snow would just stay away for good! We may have turned the corner.

  • Ahh, it has been so nice her in VA Beach! Glad you are finally getting some of it up there. She wants to be a vegetarian? Seriously? Where did that come from?

  • Spring is certainly here…has been since…February? LOL! That’s what happens in Texas though! Last weekend I planted more in my flower beds. I have more planting to do. Lots of mowing and leaf-picking-up. Kids have games galore, and the garage needs to be purged. Spring cleaning in action!

  • At the moment it seems just as cold!

  • I’m in VA too - NoVA. I just noticed today how many trees have buds on them all of a sudden. Allergies are kicking in as well : (

  • Sounds like you have great friends

My buddy did my button for my book challenge and wow! it was sosoo amazing and he really did not have to do that.

  • Spring, what’s that?

  • Hi Momma K…I haven’t been here in a long time…I apologize, my dear…Sometimes life gets in the way of blogging, you know? Gee I hope you are able to sell your house very very soon…! I will put some “light” around that…!
I envy you doing your Spring Cleaning in preparation of the coming sale….Of course here our seasons are so mixed up and getting more mixed up all the time…BUT, there are many hings blooming and I see new growth in a lot of my plants…! :yahoo:
Have a fine and dandy weekend, my dear!

  • I love Spring!!

  • Who left you a mean comment? I’ll KICK SOME ASS!

  • Great post! I am catching up on the blobs because we had server problems all week.
    Things sound really good there.
Thanks for sharing and giving us the update!
    Huggles and Love,
    Raggedy
