Check your peanut butter lids, kids.

Product code 2111, you say?

Well, crap!

Um, Choosy mothers choose Jif?
Mine is a 2111 jar too!!! But I’ve already eaten 3/4 of the jar. I eat a peanut butter sandwich every day for lunch and I haven’t been sick at all, so I made my sandwich for tomorrow anyway.
Mine is 2111 also.
It is a huge jar….it is almost gone….and I have had on-going stomach disorders for weeks……weeks, and weeks!
I am tossing the PB before I toss anything else!
And……..
The Feller has been here for 3 days. He has been “poopy sick” the whole time.
He ate a Great Value PB sandwich right before coming home.
We will see if his NC peanut butter is hexed #2111 when he gets back on Saturday. I am guessing it is….
Great Value, code 2111 in my pantry. I ate some peanut butter crackers last week. As you so fittingly put it, well, crap.
I sometimes wonder if all these food scares are just a marketing campaign to prepare us for Soylent Green.
We choose Jif around here… Hope you are all okay.
So much for that reduced fat crap, huh???
xo
LBC
Whew..I’m a skippy girl :-) Sometimes Jiff. Although two weeks ago I had Great Value. And everyone in the house had HORRID diarrhea (like you wanted to know THAT right!). I wonder. I wonder.
Hope you are all feeling okay! At least you get new peanut butter out of the deal! lol.
Save that jar and join the lawsuit, because you KNOW there’s going to be one.
I bought some of the new whipped peanut butter, and since the jar is nearly empty now, I figured we were pretty safe.
But I’ll be switching brands for awhile, I think.
At least you can get your money back! Send the lid to Con-Agra foods & they’ll refund you.
They had a gal on the news last night (from here in Okieland) who got sick from her peanut butter…
Which is why I’ll be buying JIF next time.
OH and PS: Are those FINGERPRINTS in your PB? Have you been dipping in, hmmmmmm???
heehee
you know–I heard about this last night. And this morning–an EPIPHANY!!!!
Maybe THIS was why I was sick a couple weeks ago…bleck!
My mom told me about this last night because she knows I buy Peter Pan. My jar is a 2111 jar too. Oh no!
Ours had the same numbers too. I had been having some stomach problems, so maybe that was it. Yuck!!!
I had the giant jar of regular and a jar of no sugar low carb. Both in the trash. Lids on their way to Conagra.
Thank GOD I am a Jiff user. My sister is a Peter Pan user and hers had the bad code too.
Gross! That would make me feel sick all day.
Ack I am such a food/bacteria germ-a-phobic. Finding contaminated PB would tweak me out a little. Skippy.Skippy it is. At least you caught it before you used the whole jar.
I’ve been staying away from PB, cuz the baby has some barfing illness and I don’t want to add nuts into the mix.
Now, I was a chef for years and know a lot about sanitation.
Salmonella is usually in animal products contaminated by their POOP.
So in the peanut butter? I would think it came from a worker in the plant not washing their hands.
Eew! Just, Eew!
I just posted about this too…14 of those 39 cases of illness were right here in Georgia :zombie:
So. . . . how are y’all feeling?
I buy peanut butter in those huge half-gallon containers. No, we have no children living here now. Because we like it.
They’re also the same price as a big jar. What are you waiting for?
Some bedrest and a nice peanut butter sammich should hit the spo. . . . . um, never mind.
Holy KaKa Batman.
literally :giggle:
Thank you ConAgra Foods for making me totally freak out! I’m only a PB junkie who is notorious for sitting down with a jar and just having my fill. And this has been going on since August? (basically my whole pregnancy!) Thanks a bunch! I have one unopened jar that will be going back to the store (I dare them to refuse to exchange a hormonal pregnant woman’s PB for another brand!) Thankfully, the two opened jars in the house are different brands!
I’m with Vicki. Choosy moms choose Jif. Who wants a green flying guy on their peanut butter? Spandex or leggings, sure – but peanut butter?
You didn’t get sick, did you?
I know so many people who had that code on their PB jars, and I did as well. That did not stop me from frantically making a turkey sandwich and rushing up to my daughter’s preschool to swap it out for her PB&J that morning, I can tell you. You can’t be too safe, as far as I’m concerned.
But, DUDE…Jiff? I want my Peter BACK! (Uh, that sounded kind of bad, didn’t it? wink)
I had to throw away two freakin jars….I should demand a refund from Peter Pan.
Yeah I had to ditch a jar of it too. The weird thing is that DH and the dogs have been eating out of it for two weeks and no one here got sick. You can send your lids in to Conagra to get a refund.
Ours was a 2111 jar too but no one got sick. Thankfully. :-)
I’ve never been so happy to have JIF in my cabinet. The news on this the past few days has been awful. Sick kids, people getting hospitalized, and already a death from the salmonella.
So sad.
