I know I’m feeling a little off center but I’m dealing with being a BANS (Born Again Non Smoker) so what do I know. All I want to do is put everything and anything in my mouth. The mouse fits, by the way.
So, I’m kind of funky. Maybe it’s the weather too. We’ve had no snow at all this winter and temps up in the 70’s at times. Crazy funky weather. I want a snow day dammit!
And my husband’s company is having a huge “Holiday Ball” next weekend. I am extremely done, done, done with parties and the holidays are freaking over in case you haven’t heard. I guess you get a better room rate in January but come on…cheapskates. The best part is that it’s a themed gala. Oh, yes. The Roaring 20’s. If you know me one single bit you know that I would not be caught dead at a costume party in costume. So that should be interesting. Me in my pashmina and them in their flapper dresses all settled down for a warm winter’s dance. Yeah.
Tell Me: Are you in a funk? How’s the weather for you this winter?
Do you have any hard candy?

Holiday parties are done for me. We have had a spell of nice weather here in the midwest but it looks like this weekend the you-know-what could hit the fan. We are right on the border of either cold rain or an ice storm. Time to make a run to the video store and the grocery store to stock up on the essentials. Movies and chocolate!
I have cake. I guess that doesn’t count, huh? I baked last night as a bribe–in hopes that IZ would cover the late night walk with our dog Sophie. It’s BITTER out there! (usually, my job). The cake is great (just what my diet order, heh) but I ended up walking with him and playing in the newly fallen snow anyway. I suspect my neighbors didn’t appreciate us chucking snowballs at 1 am.
And the funk… oh yeah, it’s here. I’ve not yelled at anyone yet, but the week’s not over.
Who has the energy left for another party?! Not me! I’m sure you’ll have fun.
Go rent a flapper dress and go all out! That’ll make it more interesting!
I was in a major funk for weeks and weeks. Am trying to pull myself out of it, but it creeps in a little every day. The weather has been quite warm but starting tomorrow we are under a freezing rain warning until late sunday. Woot! Hope the ice doesn’t cut the power. That would be bad.
I do have some hard candy in a jar in the living room. Lucky for me though it’s all sugar free. Jolly ranchers, life savers and Werthers Originals. Yumm-O! :giggle:
I’m totally jonesing for a big old fashioned red and white candy cane. Got any? Anyone???? Sorry that you have to undergo yet another holiday bash… you better watch it lady - those “I-Nevers” might be out in full force! Good luck with the no smoking - sheesh, it’s been 11 years and I still want one. Sigh.
No snow, no real cold weather here in NE Ky either….it is just odd and I have only lived here three years.
As for the party, I would go in a heartbeat….but then…I did not attend any holiday get-togethers. It seems NE Ky is not only lacking cold weather, but it lacks festivities as well. :indifferent:
Go, have fun…..wear what you want and be comfy. You will have more fun that way. (Eh, maybe just strap a sparkly headband on….)

We have a family Christmas party for Prince Charming’s family on Saturday. I’m DREADING it for some reason. Just want to get back to normal..HA..whatever that is! I am SO in a funk. Trying to quit smoking….and feeling guilty as hell when I give in. No snow here (supposed to tomorrow) but cold and icky. I’m VERY ready for summer.
I also have a TON of cherry jolly ranchers and miniature tootsie pops in my purse. Want some?

Mr. R’s company just does dinner at a fancy restaurant and that is enough for me. December is crazy with the social events. All I really want to do is curl up in a warm comforter all month and watch Christmas movies.
You are doing great with the non-smoking, just remember that even when you are feeling really bitchy.
No more parties. But the weather here is about to get chilly again. I think I need a sabbatical.

Although I do feel some of the ‘funk’ of January I like really get into the “it’s a new year - start over with good resolutions’ theme. Each year I try to make the theme run the entire 12 months, but………

I wish I had a party to go to. I got invited to one and couldn’t ever find that one! I am so pathetic. I think I have been in a funk for a very long time now. I don’t know what is like not to be in a funk.

I’m with ya, I WANT SNOW!!!! We have had a few reallllly cold days though. One of my girls (when it’s really cold and she can see her own breath) says “Look mommy, I’m blowing power out of my mouth!” Power? WTH? LOL I dont know why she calls her breath POWER for crying out loud, but it’s super cute anyways :winking:
