Amsterdam Trip ~ A Conversation With Myself

Okay…let me get this straight.
I can’t bring toothpaste on the plane but my husband can bring razor blades?

Why don’t we have this kind of to-die-for cheese and chocolate in the US?

Hmmmmm…Every time I order coffee from room service, I get more chocolate.
Maybe I’ll start a collection.

More coffee = More chocolate

I am not enjoying the “American Frau” label over here. Yes, I am a tourist but I am also buying your wares – so be nice, Sweetpants.

Frau is such an ugly word. Frau, cow, sow…yeah maybe that’s it.

The Hotel

They sure ride a lot of bikes here.
I guess that’s how they can eat all of that yummy food and not turn into a fat cow frau.

Our hotel again…and the penis statue.

It’s freaking freezing here and they don’t make the rooms very warm.
Cold temps + All the sex toys you can dream of = A good way to stay warm

The View

I spy something that begins with the letter “S”.

Does “sex shop” count for 2?

Okay…but define “legal”.

The Van Gogh Museum is absolutley amazing.

No photos allowed inside, of course, but the outside is pretty.

If this is the Red Light District, I’m scared to see the Green Light District.

“Do you think they’ll let us bring sanitizing wipes into the booth, sweetie?”

I’m gonna kill myself on those stairs. WTF???

How did they get the king sized bed up here?

How many points in one slice of space cake?

Oh sweet baby Jesus…I could so live here.

TSA Agent: Is there anything battery operated in your checked luggage, Miss?

Me: Ummmm…Can I plead the 5th on that one?

You love me. You really love me.

  • Hee! Battery operated devices!

Ok, that is not the penis statue that I was referring to. The one that Josh took a picture of was an actual PENIS sculpture/statue with, ah, testicles.

Glad you had fun, sweetie. And you are so NOT a frau/cow/sow.

  • So was is fabulous??? Let me know when your back in this time zone and we’ll do lunch chickee!!

  • LOL….It looks like you had a great time!!! I’m insanly jealous :-) Happy New Year!!!

  • That statue has a wart. Is it too late to nominate this post for the Perfect Post? Great stuff here- I’m laughing and laughing. The last time I was in Amsterdam it was to chaperone eight 17 year old jazz musicians who were playing at the North Seas Jazz Festival-THAT was some trip. Of all the places to try and keep track of Starter People.
The answer to your first question: We have become a Third World Country?
Happy New Year to you, dear friend.

  • Lovely pictures. My daughter’s German teacher’s name is Frau Woofter. It’s provided us with plenty of smiles–I can’t help but picture a large beefy woman with her hair in a tight bun and army boots on.

  • Ummm…why do you have two curling irons in your luggage ma’am?

  • what an amazing experience!

Glad you had a great time.

  • Man, it looks like it was awesome there and the food alone makes it look like it is worth a trip!!!

  • and maybe you came home with a little amsterdam “surprise.”

  • Oh MY. Is Meredith implying what I think she is implying??

  • Sounds like a great time. That last pastry is better looking than anything I have ever seen in the US.

  • I love Holland. I do. I do. If I ever left the US I would want to live in Holland. I am so very jealous of your vacation! I know you had a fabulous time. I can almost see it all if I close my eyes and think hard enough. Welcome home. Happy New Year. And I was @@ those shops the first time I saw them! Hahahaha!

  • Love the food pictures! So drooling here. I’d order eleventy-three pots of coffee to get the chocolate. Enjoy!!

  • Wow! You guys had a big playdate. I’m jealous.

    Happy New Year.

  • How exciting! What a fun adventure! I’m so jealous.

  • *snort* I love “can I take the 5th” bwahahahaha!

I could so live there too, such a beautiful place!

  • Glad you had fun! Welcome home. Amsterdam is a great city to visit. I’m not too sure I’d want to live there.

  • Sounds like a great place to rev up the romance.

  • *desperately trying to find a cheap travel agent that can get me to amsterdam* I wanna go!

  • Happy New Year!
    :sing: Awsome post!
    :lovestruck: Loved all the pictures!
How in the world would you find the bike you rode in on? Maybe they just take one and keep trading….I have trouble finding my parked car at the wallmart!
I am so glad you are having a wonderful time!
I just love when people post travel stuff because I can vicariously take the trip.

    :thanku:

    I have missed you!!!!
Extra hugs from me to you!!!

    Have a wonderful day!
    *^_^

  • I’ve always wanted to go to Amsterdam and this post is only fueling the desire.

  • Honey – if you liked Holland – you would absolutely adore Japan! They have something there called ‘love motels’. Lord love a duck! Rooms done up like bordellos, machines on every floor dispensing the most outrageous toys and frilly underwear, in house TV where you can look at yourself or any of a thousand videos. I’d never seen the like. Anyone unable to ignite their love life over there would be clinically dead!

  • I would KILL to see the Van Gogh Museum!

  • Talk to me, Goose.
