Thirteen Things swirling around in MommaK’s head today…

1. Ahhhh…almost time to switch to my snowy theme. I’m enjoying this fall look so much that I may stretch it out until the actual first day of winter. You okay with that?

2. Thanksgiving is over and the holiday season is upon us - or at least upon me like a heavy fire-breathing dragon on my chest. How come what once set forth butterflies of excitement in my tummy now produces what feels like the beginnings of an ulcer? I may be doing it wrong.

3. I feel very blessed that my family loves me despite my flaws - and my husband’s. That’s what I learned this Thanksgiving.

4. This Saturday is the annual Christmas parade through town. My daughter will be marching with the SPCA while I jazzercise down main street with a gaggle of nutty women like myself. My mom is attending so hopefully she’ll get a few good pictures for you to laugh yourself silly over.

4. After the parade, we are going to the SPCA to get Lillian’s picture taken with Santa. Now that should be funny. I wonder if Lil will sit on Santa’s lap or vice versa.

5. My older daughter is going to her first semi-formal dance on Sunday. We went dress shopping 2 weeks ago and this little number spoke to her from the rack.

Of course, the day after we purchased it we realized that she was not allowed to wear a strapless dress. As you read this, I am out scouring the countryside for a cute little sweater to make her decent.

6. Sunday is also the day my cousin and her family head back to Japan. We have so enjoyed their visit. I’ts sad to think that we won’t see them again for more than a year. Very sad…and I’m awful at goodbyes.

7. My youngest sister showed up at Thanksgiving weighing 30 pounds less than when I last saw her in August. She looks amazing!

8. I’m not a happy blogger lately. I think I may have lost my zest for it. Not sure what to do there. I like zest.

9. Blogging sure has given me some good friends though. It’s incredible how people I have never met face to face can touch my life in so many extraordinary ways. That’s great zest.

10. I’ve fallen head over spiked heels for a new show called Dexter. It is delicious in a Robin Hood serial killer sort of way. Have you heard of it?

11. Many people have asked the question “Is your house still haunted?”. The answer is yes…at least as far as I can tell. My husband finally admitted that he has heard the sounds too. That made me feel better…for about 30 seconds.

12. I love these holiday catalogs that I keep getting a million of in the mail each day. They all say “It’s not too late”. Ummmm….it’s November, you freaking morons.

13. Lucinda and I are gearing up for The Perfect Post Awards tomorrow. Haven’t heard of The Perfect Post Awards? Check it out.

If you really love me, feed me in your reader!

You love me. You really love me. Dontchya?

  • “not allowed” to wear a strapless dress? i’ve heard it all now. You could sew little spaghetti straps into it. It’s a beautiful dress.

  • 1. I found that when I went to switch - tweaks were needed. Please let me know when it starts snowing at your place so I can watch.

    2. I’ll join you with that ulcer and bring my xanax.

    4. Jazzercise - through town? You’re a brave soul - oh my. Are spandex involved?

    5. I bet Lil will be adorable. I have to see those pics, you know!

    6. I’m so sorry they had to go, but I’m glad they got to stay for a while (or at least it seemed like a while to those of us who missed you), and you got to huggle and snuggle those babies.

    7. 30 pounds! That’s AMAZING. Congrats to your sister!! Please let her know I found them, and I need a forwarding address.

    8. If you’ve gone from blojo to zest, something is wrong. Maybe you just need an espresso machine? I think you should have more lattes.

    10. Dexter looks cool - but we’re basic cable people. No movie channels here. :P

    11. I was frightened when I totaled up an imaginary shopping spree at Coldwater Creek. While those catalogs are beautiful, they are so bad for the budget! LOL

    12. I nominate your Thanksgiving post. (See, you haven’t lost any zest.)

  • What a cute site! Love the TT, too - learned a lot about you, I feel. That dress /is/ cute - too bad about the strapless thing! As another commenter said - could you sew on some little straps?

  • Heya old timer, you’re featured this week at the hub!

  • I am so with on #2. maybe Leanne needs to design a Christmas Support Blog!

I have been a blah blogger lately, also. The Zest will come back.

    Your daughter is beautiful!

30 pounds! I would be so happy for her and so depressed for me!

  • #5 - Gorgeous dahling!! Use a pashmina… That’s what we are doing… Then, she’s going to take it off when she’s upstairs in the ball room. I don’t think they are going to send them home…

  • I’ve been going through a long stretch of writers block with my blog too. I’ve taken several breaks but I’m still dry. I don’t want to give the blog up so I’ll just post when inspiration strikes.

My MIL house is haunted. Her story was even featured on our local cable channel.

    My 13 is up.

  • Chrissy

Your daughter looks terrific. I love brown on red heads. I have my son in brown alot.
So where is the parade? I might have to track up there for you jazzercising down a street. It would definitely be worth the car ride! Good luck!

  • Love the dress!! just gorgeous!! Good luck in your sweater hunt!

Loving your fall design also I’d stick it out for as long as possible if I were you

  • Jazz hands. You gotta use jazz hands going doing the street. (That’s kind of an inside joke. My husband always comments when anyone uses jazz hands.)

Ummmm……I love you despite our flaws. What are they again?

My sister recently asked if your house was still haunted. Now I can tell her.

Relax sweetie, and enjoy the month. Focus on that jazzercise and know that everyone will love you even if you don’t make Christmas cookies, etc.

    xo

  • I was wondering about your house - we saw our ghost again the other day. I think Grandma is coming by to check on things because my oldest is getting married. She was never one to miss a party, lol.

  • This is my first visit to your site and I really enjoyed it! I’m going to have to mark it so I can come back and browse when I’ve got a chunk of time to myself and a full pot of tea!

    Enjoyed the list too!

    Mine is up too.

  • i’ve heard amazing things about DExter.

i really should check it out!

  • 1. I can’t wait to see the new layout revealed, I’m sure it’ll be just as gorgeous as the fall theme!
    5. Your daughter’s dress is adorable - in a very appropriate way. I wish I could find something so cute for the holidays. Good luck with the very first formal, oh, the memories!

Wishing you the best as you prepare for the holiday season and find your bloggy spirit once again!

  • i think it’s “in like flint”
    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0061810/

    bwah!

  • that dress is lovely. As carmen says sew spagetti straps on it.

I love your theme. I am also looking for a winter theme for my blog

  • Keep this look for a while. I love it! it is so serene.

but then maybe your winter look will get you out of your funk about blogging, and bring back the zest.

  • Just stopped by to congratulate you on being one of the TT featured blogs. I don’t believe I’ve ever been here before! Love the template and the list. I don’t know you, but I definitely must see pictures of you dancing in the parade! Have a terrific weekend, and stop by my blog whenever you’re in the neighborhood!

  • Your daughter looks gorgeous! But I was gonna say, if that was my baby, I’d WANT her a little more covered up, like, maybe a Burka.

  • Nick has read the Dexter books. He loves them. I don’t know if that’s a good thing or not.

    I love your daughter’s dress! That’s gorgeous!

I would invite your ghost to tea. You know. Work out a little deal where it can only come out when you’re not at home, and it can’t touch anything. In return you won’t exorcise it.

  • Lass - did you mean exercise?

    Baahahaaa…. :giggle:

(sorry, the whole Jazzercising down the street thing still has me in stitches.)

  • Please find some zest!!! So that you won’t quit!

  • That dress is adorable! I hope you find her the perfect sweater!

  • Your daughters dress is ADORABLE! I hope you figure something out, I like Carmen’s idea, sew some simple spaghetti straps on. It’s okay that you feel a little zest-less right now, just remember that you are loved by many! And, we’ll hunt you down if you quit blogging LOL  BTW Congrats to your sister, 30 lbs. lost is GREAT I’m sorry your cousin has to go back to japan so soon
