Oh So Thankful

Wednesday, November 22nd 2006

This old house is doing exactly what we envisioned when we first set foot in it back in March - holding a big, wonderful family holiday. There are babies running around and turkeys to be fried. The wind is whistling around the many glass windows of the kitchen, while inside we prepare for tomorrow’s feast. Family has arrived from Japan and Massachusetts and soon more will come from Tennessee, Pennsylvania and Maryland.

There is childlike happiness in the air and as I take a moment to watch it like a movie around me, all feels right with the world.

From my kitchen to yours, I wish you a Happy Thanksgiving. I am blessed to know you all!

Petroville Challenge: Take a picture of your kitchen at it’s worst this Thanksgiving. Dishes piled high, crumbs and pie smeared all over the counter tops, greasy pots and pans left to rot a while. Send me your pic and I’ll post the collection here beginning with my own, of course. Are you up for getting dirty with me?

Here’s mine:

Where’s yours?

I’ll take you up on that challenge! But I want to have a before picture too! I guess I better take my “before” today because I’m gonna start cooking any second now. I’m glad your hopes for the new house are coming true - happy, happy, happy Thanksgiving!

  • I’m not doing Thanksgiving at my house this year. I’m only making the cranberry sauce, and I did that last night and cleaned it up! Well, some of it.

  • Looks like it will be a rainy day tomorrow but we’ll have sunshine inside! Many hands to help make it a fun relaxful time. BTW my voice is coming back and I think I’ll be on the road to recovery by tomorrow! Taking today to chill out and relax and let father and daugher has some special time together.

  • Happy Thanksgiving, M’Kay!

  • When we bought our house five years ago it felt odd to be in a new neighborhood, with everything new and foreign. That Thanksgiving/Christmas was especially wonderful because the holidays made the house feel like home like nothing else could.

I’ll be taking pictures for sure, thanks!

  • I’ll be going away to Kentucky (as soon as I get off work at 7 a.m), so I wont be having Thanksgiving at my house this year..WOOHOO NO MESS!! But, I hope that you have a very blessed, wonderful day with your family! *hugs*

  • Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

I had my thanksgiving last month, but stay tuned for christmas and I could post a heck of a mess in my kitchen.

  • Happy Thanksgiving MommaK! May it be filled with good eats and friends!

  • Nope, we have a relative with a bigger house who also loves to host.
Then my husband cooks at a commercial kitchen for the “unfortunate” and leaves the mess there.
I hope someone will scrounge me some leftovers, though.

    Have a great day!

  • I hope your day was fabulous. I thought of you.

I worked this Thanksgiving…….no messy pictures of it, but my kitchen is a mess any way, want a picture of that?!!!

  • All we got was a picture of the turkey carcass and Guppyman already posted that. Glad you had such a wonderful day. It’s worth the work and the mess, isn’t it?

  • Happy Thanksgiving! Hope you had a wonderful day.
