Lady In Waiting

Waaaaaay back in April, we signed the contract on our pool.

On June 15th they dug.

It rained a lot in June.

In July they put in the pool shell…

…and did the tile and coping.

The best part was when they dug up my not-yet-paid-for landscaping to run the electric. Oh was that a good day.

F-word galore!

Then we hit another little snag.
It seems there was no retaining wall put into my contract. Did we need one?

Um…ya think?

In August, our deck was poured.

And after getting the retaining wall done with my own
very wonderful landscaper, the pool was getting close.

Yesterday they came to plaster - the final step in the major construction process.

The plastering was complete by noon and the water truck was “on it’s way”.
Until water arrived, I was to keep the hose running so the plaster would not be ruined.

Yup. That’s my measly little hose filling up that big ol’ pool. We live on a well here so I was pacing back and forth biting my nails all afternoon wondering if we would run out of water before the mRfing water truck arrived.

When it did (around 4pm) the driver let me know that there was no way he could make it up my freshly paved driveway without completely crushing it with his 30,000 pound truck. Hmmmm…replace my driveway or my pool plaster…or my well. Oh, the drama.

Luckily the driver was able to call another guy who had a smaller truck.

And we had water!

It took them until around 10 pm to get the job done but when I woke up this morning I had a very full pool.

So…it’s full and most of the waiting is over. I say most because we still have to wait to get our pumps hooked up and then pass final inspection. By then it will be too GD cold to swim but we will have the hot tub. Ahhhhh….and that will be nice.

Lillian left her bone and the sunny spot on the rug
to watch me through the window as I took pictures this morning.

I think she thinks she can swim. What do you think?

If you really love me, feed me in your reader!

You love me. You really love me. Dontchya?

  • well it’s getting there. Sounds like a long process. Cute dog!

  • Well it looks beautiful. I’m sure by next summer you will be thinking it was worth it. At least I sure hope so! I’m jealous, I’ll never get a pool…Wah!

  • So pretty! I know you are going to love sitting in that hot tub with a glass of wine and gazing up at the stars. Aaaah, the good life!

  • It’s so beautiful! Thank God they had a smaller truck - one stress after another! I’ll be there for the ‘coming up’ or should I say ‘going in’ party - at least the hot tub! Can’t wait!

  • What a BEAUTIFUL shape that is…! Oh I hope they finish it in time for you to get at least ONE Swim in before it is too cold…!

  • That’s a really beautiful pool. … but what I really thing your dog may be thinking is “Heh. .. They think they can stop me from swimming in that pool!”

  • ooooh’ing and aaaahhhing over here, that is quite a beautiful pool, with a beautiful view!

  • It is so beautiful. I love the view. How many acres do you have?

  • Oooooh! Party at MommaK’s!! Gorgeous!!!

  • It looks so nice. I love a hot tub!

  • Chrissy

So beautiful and well worth the wait.

  • Love the pool. Love the area. What state do you live in?

Also, um, your house, still haunted? Or was that just a fleeting goose-bumpy night?

  • It looks great and super peaceful.
Just want to let you know I am reading and REALLY miss you all.

  • Yours got to the finishing point MUCH quicker than mine did! It is beautiful. I love the hot tub addition. I thought about adding one of those but mostly the kids would use it, not us grown ups. Did you have a heater put in? I have not turned ours on at all, just no interest in the water since it has gotten cool.

  • I’ll be looking for the invite to the pool party in my mailbox! That’s just gorgeous!

I think Lillian is probably big enough to touch in the deep end!

  • A great series of pictures that shows the pain of going through a pool installation before ending with the great result.

  • The pool is beautiful, and it sounds like you’re excited it’s done. Enjoy!

  • Wow. That turned out great!

  • Gorgeous! I love the natural look. It blends well w/ the landscape.

That is also a beautiful dog

  • Beautiful pool, beautiful view — can we all come sit in the hot tub? We’ll bring our own wine. Doesn’t it have to have a heater? — or otherwise it would be a lukewarm tub?

I envy you in the coming months, being able to sit in your hot tub with a light snow swirling around you.

  • Wow, it’s so big and so pretty!

I can totally relate to the “waiting for the pool game”, it sucks!

I hope your dog isn’t like mine. Mine won’t stay out of the pool no matter what. Drives me crazy.

  • Took Amber’s advise & stopped over. Wow! The pictures of your pool are just beautiful.

  • What a beautiful pool! It’ll be worth all the trouble!

  • Your pool is drop dead gorgeous!!! and I hope that hot tub gets hot soon-cuz I’m coming over :yahoo:

  • It looks beautiful and your view is to die for! That is exactly what I dream of for my yard in 5 years when Miss Priss can swim. You are going to love it!!!

  • It looks marvelous!

  • Sweeet!!!!

  • It’s gorgeous! At least it’s nice to look at all through the winter!

  • Oh, MommaK, it is gorgeous!!

I’ve been so busy with drama this year. Have thought of you often. Littliest one is in my lap as I try to type this… I still have your books sitting by my computer to get back to you.

So glad to see sweet Lillian, too. I think she’ll try to take a dip!

    Take care!!

  • It looks beautiful! I know you will really enjoy it and the hot tub is an extra special bonus. :giggle:

What a view you have. Gorgeous!!!

  • If you could only see how jealous I am - and I have a pool. LOL

  • wow, it’s gorgeous! the frustrations will all be worth it, i’m sure.

  • That pool is GORGEOUS! And the view! Oh please, please let me come visit! With your hot tub and excercise room, it’ s like you live in a spa!

  • That pool is beautiful. Very inviting.
