Thirteen Things swirling around in MommaK’s head today…

1. I thought I’d jump back in the 13 boat today and test the water. It has been a long time since I’ve been able to play. Not that I have time now…I really should be organizing my house and doing laundry. (and yes , I realize that there are snowflakes up there…like I said, it’s been a while)

2. Last night I stayed up and watched The Skeleton Key after my husband went to sleep. Dumb move. I was so freaked out that I could not sleep until almost 3am. A movie about an old southern house that is haunted? Hmmmm….brilliant idea considering where I live.

3. So I stayed up for two hours hearing noises and writing my weekly entry for the other blog that I contribute to - Mamarazzi. Come visit us and share a snark or two…or six.

4. Highlights of my week: my 6 year old learned to ride her bike without training wheels and they finally dug our pool. Now I have a scratched car and a big ugly hole in my yard. No kidding.

5. I’ve been trying to get my husband to guest post again. He posted last year for Father’s Day - so I was nagging pushing for that but it didn’t happen.

6. We rode ATV’s on Father’s Day. That was what he wanted to do. I had only driven one a few times (on flat land) so when he wanted to go through the hilly trails in the woods, I was nervous. I did fine though. I only stopped my ATV twice and threw a “I am not doing this!” “I am not going down that steep hill!” tantrum.

7. I really need to figure out what we’re doing for July 4th. If we stay home, my husband will set off enough fireworks to get us arrested and burn the house down. Can I come to your house?

8. My youngest turns 7 in a month and she wants to have Harry Potter birthday party. She loves Harry Potter. This will be the first time we’re able to have a party at our own house instead of going somewhere lame and expensive like Chuck E Cheese or Build A Bear. I am excited about finally being able to have parties in my own home - but then I’ll have to do the clean up afterwards, won’t I?

9. Our family has a beach vacation coming up in a few weeks that I’m starving myself for. Isn’t that always the way it goes…? I’ve been so consumed with moving and unpacking that my diet & exercise program has gone right out the window. Damn bathing suits. Blech. I want to shrink like Nicole Ritchie. Any idea how I can do that? You know damn well she’s not exercising!

10.My old house still has not sold. Ugh. We’ve moved out, repainted and cleaned the carpets. Hell, it looks better than it ever did when we lived in it! Do you need a 4 bedroom house in the Ding Dang Woods of Virginia? Let me know.

11. I actually won something this week. I put my name in a drawing for a free rocking chair at my favorite furniture store and I won!! It was very exciting. The rocking chair nosomuch as the winning.

12. I just got off the phone with my cousin - the proud new Momma of the very cute and perfectly healthy Henry. She’s doing well and says hello.

13. Lucinda and I are gearing up for The Perfect Post Awards on the 30th. We need all entries in as early as possible this month as well as the next due to vacation plans. Haven’t heard of The Perfect Post Awards? Check it out.

You love me. You really love me. Dontchya?

  • Welcome back to the 13!!!!

The Skeleton Key is a great movie! OK, maybe not for someone in your situation.

    Love Mamarazzi, I visit often.

Going to the beach, huh? Um, water, laxatives and puking. Lots of it!

  • I want to nominate someone for the perfect post award. I looked for your email to nominate someone, but couldn’t find your email. hmmmm.

    happy thursday

  • “Blech. I want to shrink like Nicole Ritchie.” Well, eat a grape a day and eat some Ex-Lax! That’ll do it! :winking:

  • I think Nicole lost it all by doing cocaine and speed. Know any dealers in the Ding Dang Woods? Can you come teach Elle to ride her bike? I can’t seem to help her get the hang of it.

  • Ha ha ha, shrink like Nicole Ritchie. Beautiful blog design!

  • Welcome back! A great 13 to make a comeback with!

    My T13 is up!

  • Ya did it!!!! :yahoo:

  • I can’t believe you watched a scary movie, considering. You are officially insane!

If you find Nicole Richie’s secret, let me know. We leave in two weeks for a beach vacation also and I’m in panic mode. I’m up for anything that doesn’t include vomiting. Oh, or drugs, I guess.

  • I loved the Skeleton Key. I have got to hear more about the house. Sorry I got back too late for today! We’ll reschedule.

  • Congrats on winning the rocking chair! Have fun at the beach.

  • Sounds like you got a lot done! Congrats on winning the rocking chair. I was psyched :slaphappy: when I won $10 worth of vellum at a scrapbooking show. I had never won anything in a raffle before! Your husband and mine sound like they could be twins with the fireworks. Mine used to be the guy who would set off tons of them, holiday or not. In college he would spend up to $80/month on pyrotechnics!

    Great list and beautiful blog!

  • ATVing looks like a blast! I’ve tried jet-skis, and love that kind of thing. Though I drive about 2 mph, but still think it’s fun!

congrats to your daughter on kicking the training wheels… soooo exciting!

  • Great T13 for a comeback So exciting that you won a rocking chair, and I hope your daughter has a great HP birthday party! You’re welcome to come hang out with us on the 4th. We go to the hubby’s mom’s side of the family, just a measly 75-100 people show up!

    Have a great day, I played too…

  • Sherrry

Good to hear from you in the TT kind of way.

  • I wonder how many calories you can burn while rocking and scary yourself silly with movies about haunted houses? teehee :winking:

  • Drat!!! I forgot to say’Welcome’ to Henry!! Hope mom is doing well.

  • Sent you a perfect post, as required. I am so good.

  • What a GREAT thing to win a rocking chair. I never win stuff like that. I so know what you mean about the fireworks…my guys are ALL pyros inside!!!

    My TT is up here.

  • I am just sitting here, in awe of the progress you’ve made on your move. You actually have a life, with vacations and fireworks and birthday parties. And I’m quaking in my flip flops. I’m not sure I’m up to this.

You won a rocking chair?!?! How cool is that? Congrats on that and another fine Thursday Thirteen. You’re a role model for me, M’Kay!

  • I loved the Skeleton key, and it did freak me out.

I think the only thing I ever won was a free hair do, which just meant they curled my hair. I was in 4th grade.

  • You won my chair!! I bought two of those for the grandbugs. They love them! We got the red ones. What color did you choose?

I’ll help you clean up after your HP party. I’ll even steam the wallpaper off those bathroom walls while you party hearty!

Happy 13! I’m glad you jumped back in. Happy bday to your little Hermione and congrats on the no training wheels! I have my own bathing suit issues… but lets not discuss that now ok?

  • The Skeleton Key freaked me out too. At first I thought, hmm, this movie is kinda slow, but once all the suspense had built up and you found out what happened… freaky! The hubby thought it was so funny that I got scared too.

Harry Potter birthday parties are the best. Not that I’ve had one, since I’m 25 and that would be silly, but I did throw one for my 5th graders… so it was kinda for me, but not really.

  • Hi, it’s me…I’m totally de-lurking!!!! Thanks for the email exchange yesterday, I’m feeling less neurotic I never saw the Skeleton Key, but I may try it out. I like scary movies though so I should be fine!
