Last December, I had a little accident with my left big toe. Somehow my toenail spilt and ended up coming off in a sock/band-aid incident a week or so later. It was disgusting and I was mortified. How would I wear my beloved flip-flops this Spring? Would my nail grow back in time?
I said to hell with it and began wearing flip-flops a month ago, even though the nail still had a ways to go before anyone would peg it as “normal”. However, I needed a pedicure to get the winter off of my feet and that I had to wait for. No way was I going to let anyone poke and pick at my barely there nail. No way until yesterday…
Yesterday I took my soon to be 11 year old to have her nails done for being so brave. She had to have another ingrown toenail removed the day before. Even though a 14 year old boy had run screaming from the doctor’s office before her refusing the same treatment, she let the doctor slice her big toe open and fix it all better.

She got orange (her favorite color) and flowers.

And toenails too.

Me – all 10 , Her – all 9.

How do your piggies look right now? Are they ready for Spring?
Leanne showed me hers yesterday – naked even.
Here’s Monty’s Piggies
And Sarcomical’s toesies

Bonus question: When you are sitting there having your manicure and the woman is massaging your hand so deliciously, where do you put your eyes? I mean, there you are separated by only a foot of a table and she’s rubbing you like a lover should and all I can think about is where I should be looking. I feel like I should be gazing into her eyes – complimenting her on her hair or something. What do you do? How about when your foot goes into her ample bosom several times during the pedicure? Anything weird about that? Okay, I’m done. Let me see your feet!

My, what beautiful toes you have! French tips?! I don’t have tips on my toes! Dang, woman!
I also love your capris. They match the dream I had lastnight. Can I borrow them?
Having an ingrown nail removed? All I can say is that I hope you followed up the manicure & pedicure with cash, or something. OW.
oooh… i remember my date with a surgeon all because of an ingrown toenail!*shudder*
actually, never had a pedicure in my life. my toenails are too small. really. took me years to even try on open-toed sandals!
I very rarely go get a pedicure, but when I have had one…I close my eyes and pretend I am somewhere else. I do this when I get my hair washed too.
I guess my feet look good. On Easter, my sister-in-law thought I had a pedicure……and I did all by myself.
Your daughers feet look like yours, so cute where the big toe and the second toe separate.
Did you watch Survivor????
Mine look the exact same as yours do!
BQ: I look at the hands – just keep focusing on the hands!
Thank God for you, really. I thought I was the only one obsessed with the eye/foot/chest conundrum. I love a good pedicure. But they can be, um, awkward.
I usually keep my eyes closed, intently.
Totally cute nails for the both of you!!!! I did my own nails on Sunday night (it’s a semi-normal ritual). They are ready for spring!!! Zoe’s, on the other hand (no pun intended), are in desperate need of help.
:wink:cute tootsies! My girls don’t like polish
but I just gave a mini pedicure to my Bear (age 8) with a soak, a scrub, and some lotion, and followed up with the same on my self plus a hot pink polish that goes awesome in my new flip flops! Hey, your big toe looks great btw!
Do I dare take a picture of my feet? Hmmm…Maybe later!
Your toesies look fantastic! And the orange on your girlie is adorable! Maybe Elle and I need a date!
Mine look better than they have the past few springs…at least they’ve got polish on ‘em!
My toes are so NOT ready for spring. It’s supposed to be 36 degrees here on Saturday night and the woodstove will be on. Brrrr.
Your girl is one brave soul – yeouch!
My toes are OK. I do my own.
I’m not big on foot touchery.
Hot darn, naked feet!!
I’m OCD about having freshly painted toenails…but I’ve never had a pedicure.
Or a manicure.
So I can’t answer your questions.
But my toenails are painted Amethyst at present, and I must say they do look lovely.
Your toes look very nice. My toes need work, and soon, cause it’s like…80 degrees here today. I usually do mine myself. I do love getting a pedicure, but I’m kind of weird about strange people touching me. So, I usually get one overhaul job in the Spring and maintain as needed myself throughout the summer. Last summer, my favorite color was “Don’t be Koi” with me, which is a very bright Coral. My toenails are now a very odd color. I slapped a coat of polish on the other day just to get me through but it’s all icky now. I also have square feet. They’re not very attractive. I don’t wear strappy shoes or flip flops because they make my feet look ridiculous, kind of like Miss Piggy’s when she wears high heels.
Okay, I’ve got a picture of my wee little toes up.
i’m showing you! here.
Oh God.
You do NOT want to see my little piggies.
Mine are NOT ready for public display. So not. Yours are lovely!
As for the manicure question, on the rare occasions when I’ve had one, I look down at the towel, chat & look at her face, close my eyes, ummm…look at my hands. I don’t know! It is a little odd. But wonderful!
I have had my spring pedicure but it was way before spring was here. Perhaps it was wishful thinking. But I am going for my real spring pedicure/manicure tomorrow. I can’t wait!
And I agree, also it is so uncomfortable when the girl is rubbing up your leg with the lotion. All I can think about is, Did I shave carefully? Are my legs too fat? Is she talking about me?
Cosmic!
Check out my post!
It’s Foot Fetish Friday!
Your daughter is brave. All your nails look beautiful. I just went to the spa and had the works so my toes are marvelous. They have to be here in CA as you know! I would show you except like your last post, I have no energy.
It is fall here and I am in boots and socks most the time. I will get a pedicure in LA a day before the Emmys I guess
I came by to catch up and hopefully find something snarky about Shane and compassion for weird Bruce- instead it’s better! It’s reality blog angst! Momma K- this place is just what I need today- a bit about Easter, a great post about energy (and where is it, anyway?) with a delightful poem and a lift your spirits with pedicure post! I have a gift certificate from Christmas for a pedicure and I’d forgotten all about it until now. First there was the treadmill mangled foot, then death, then pneumonia…time for a pedicure is right! Until then, no foot linkage, unless you want horrifying before photos..
I love your energy, wherever it’s at and I love your daughter’s poem.
oh, one more thought- I think big life transitions and developments change the ebb and flo of our energy. Aren’t you working on moving a home and family?
mine are still in the winter mode and not ready to be shared, too scary. yours looks great and good for your brave daughter on picking that colour for her toes.
Haha! I love your comment about where to look when the woman is giving you a manicure. I usually chat with them.
My footsies aren’t ready yet… but heck, its freaking 40 degrees over here right now. Spring came then snuck away in the night!
I love that you posted your pedi/mani pictures!
And to answer your question, I just close my eyes when I’m getting a pedicure or a manicure. Thata way, there’s no obligation to talk.
I must admit, I haven’t had mine done yet!
Had two foot surgeries–from years of distance running and too many 10K’s. Now I “Power Walk”. You two will be ready in no time for Spring. Oh wait, here come the guys looking for you!
Cute Coach flipflops! Leave it to a label hore like me to spot that one. I went and had my toes done today. You inspired me. I did light pink. The general public thanks you for not having to look at my dry nasty feet. Thanks!
I always wonder where to look during the hand massage, too! Your toes look very nice. I had a horrible pedicure experience once and never get them now!
I am supposed to have given up the flip flops due to a torn plantar fascia last summer PLUS poor circulation, yada yada yada. Has that stopped me? Nah. Still wearin’ my flips. Not as much, but still wearin’ ‘em. I’d give anything to be able to get a French pedicure, but according to those nearest and dearest around me, I have Hobbit toes. Little curled up fat things with itty bitty nails. I argue that if they were truly Hobbit feet they’d be hairy. And they’re not. Because I shave them. :giggle:
