My confession: I am dying for a cigarette.
The thought of smoking hasn’t crossed my mind in so long that such a sudden and strong craving has really caught me off guard. The reason could be the change of seasons or this big ball of stress I’m bouncing about but the bottom line is - I’m weak and I know it.
Last night I dreamt I was smoking a cigarette and…
…it was heavenly.
I know what you are going to say. I can hear all of you non-smokers rallying now and chanting “icky-poo” with crinkled up noses. Actually, I’m a non-smoker too. A non-smoker who for the past 2 summers picked the habit back up and then quit again - both times swearing it was forever. But this is my space to write what’s on my mind and right now it’s a big fat cigarette - among other things like home inspections, mortgages, money, getting this house sold and eating cat food.
I am posting my craving confession and asking you not to judge or advise, but to accept my yearning as simply human. All of us imperfect people have a vice…or two or six. You do too, don’t you? Please tell me you do.

I am an X-smoker (been 2 years now) I too dream about smoking. I smell it, I feel it, I taste it. Everything. When I did smoke I never ever dreamt about it, now I will sometimes. All I can say is stop remember how it controled you… are you gonna be able to find a place to smoke? do you have enough ciggs to get through the day? What about a lighter? Ho man do I have the money do this anymore?
Hope this helped
The same confession! I have been dying for a smoke for weeks. I could EAT one! I have been told the craving never goes away -even after years of nonsmoking. That, my friend, feels like a very bleak forecast for the future … :-s
I crave beer. Yeah, I know, probably worse than a cig.
But there are times that I am counting down the minutes until the kids are in bed and my husband is home to have one!
Gah. Lately? I just cave to all of them these days. Stress is a bad, bad thing.
i’ve never smoked but i’m craving oatmeal cookies with my tea.
Usually my cravings are for sweets. Preferrably of the chocolate variety. Lately, I’ve been popping jelly beans & flying high. No fat, but holy sugar!!!
My addiction is with crunchy salty carb-laden foods that I really can’t eat anymore because of my health. So, I can understand. Hang in there…
Everyone has a vice, yes…and I’m currently trying to kick mine to the curb.
I totally want a cigarette.
It was REALLY bad this weekend…that long drive with NO SMOKES.
And then DRINKING with NO SMOKES.
And the HANGOVER with NO SMOKES.
If my mind were a painting, it would be a big fat Marlboro Light 100.
I crave a nice big fat… uh… I don’t think I can say that here. I don’t think I could say it outloud, actually.
:giggle:
Cigarettes are sold in vending machines here. So every morning I pass this one machine with these yummy cigarettes that I once loved. Well, still love. Maybe after the baby I can treat myself to a pack. Or maybe in November you and I can smoke ourselves silly for a couple of days!
It’s the season change…especially from cold to warm weather..I’m right there with ya! That and dark chocolate…10 lbs later…
I have food issues. Hugs to you, hope you find your way through this craving.
Sweets… chocolate and all sorts of gummy worms. Can’t help it…
the first step is admitting you have a problem.

That was my main craving during my pregnancies - pretty sad huh?
I’m craving a big, fat :lazy: snooze. I’m so tired I can barely keep my eyes open and I still have an hour and a half until the kids go to bed. I haven’t been this tired since my last pregnancy.
I could go for a spliff, now THAT would be relaxing.
Oh well, I quit all that stuff…
I’m not judging you and I have no experience with cigarette cravings to offer any advice.
What about indulging in another vice instead? Would that work?
There’s always yoga. You could try that. Great stress reliever and it makes you want to do only good things for your body.
My vice is sugar. I can’t go half way. I have to cut in completely from my diet. Birthday cake is bad, bad for me. Icing…so disgusting and so addicting.
After 23 years of nonsmoking…I still crave one first thing in the morning! That used to be my favorite cig. of the day. Man, nicotine is some baaaad stuff, isn’t it?
I also crave ice cream…the full fat stuff. I don’t have it but a spoonful here and there since I”m doing Weight Watchers. My son loves Ben & Jerry’s Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, so I get that for him and have just one spoonful to get over the craving. It works. Mostly. :winking:
coca-cola… that is all i crave. i’ve stopped drinking for more than a week now and i am not a happy camper.
I sometimes crave chocolate, but I only need a tiny piece, I am that disciplined, how boring!
Chocolate, salt, carbs, junk - mcdonalds. I hate when stress and pms collide
i do know how you feel. i’m 35. i quit smoking for the first time in june 05. 8 months without a drag and yes i dreamed about smoking a lot. weird.
then i went to vegas and smoked! i’m so mad at myself. i was doing so well.
now i’m smoking here and there and i don’t even want to.
also i drink way too much red wine!
Kristi
Yep, I’m with ya. I quit 2-1/2 years ago and still crave a cigarette from time to time. I won’t cave in, though.
I wouldn’t be able to quit again if I smoked one and, really, my body feels so much better without them
I quit 10 years ago, and could pick it up again in an instance… miss it… desperately! But I won’t do it… I promise.
i would be a hypocrite if i chastized you for smoking. i did it all through college and for a while afterward. i haven’t picked up a cig in over 2 years now. but every now and again i’ll get the same craving. i’ve been good at forgetting it, though.
but my BIG vice… is food. it always has been; it’s always been something i’ve struggled with. when i’m stressed i always want sweets; something chocolate, or ice cream, or some kind of baked good. *drooling at the thought* and when i’m bored it’s usually the same thing. haha.
Oh man…I am like you. I smoke, I quit, I smoke, I quit…I can go years without one, smoke for three months, then not smoke for six months and then just smoke one. Don’t give in!! Or if you already have, don’t beat yourself up!!
I smoke… I have tried ( not really that hard) to quite and I just can’t do it. It’s tough.
Smoking
To dream that you are smoking, indicates that you are trying to shield yourself and others against your emotions. You have trouble letting others in
Mine is chocolate, but right now I’m craving a pint,eh, maybe two, of Ben and Jerry’s New York Super chunk- hey, neither are wise for the heart- but at least smoking doesn’t make
your ass look big!
Beer. I’ve fallen in love with beer. Mmmm…Beer
I’m an ex-smoker for 25 years now, and guess what? If the mood is right, and I’ve just had a good meal and a glass of wine, and I smell a distant whiff of tobacco? God, I want a cigarette.
Hang tough, MommaK. No cigarettes.
It is the same as yours. I quit smoking in 1980 or 81, and I still dream about smoking sometimes. In my dreams, I am smoking and I don’t want anyone to see me, but I am enjoying the heck out of it!
I crave bacon….seriously. On sandwiches, in an expensive plate of food, by itself. Oh, the wonders of that little salty, crunchy stick.
Smoking and drinking Coke are my two main vices that I shall quit soon. Since smoking has become something I must sneak I hope it goes away soon. I fear the cravings at certain times will never cease. And the Coke-I do love it so….
Coca-Cola, I guess. I think about it alot. Gave up real sodas at the start of the new year then gave up again for lent. Only diet Dr. Peppers for me. What’s up with Cat food?
I am with you MommaK…..I would and have dreamed about cigaretts and they are heavenly. How long has it been?? 16 months for me and I still want one.
PS I looked in the attic and saw my meme again. It was fun! I am glad we became cyber friends.
It’s terrible but I crave wine more than anything. Most of the time I can get through the beginning of the week but once Thursday night hits, the wine starts pouring. Then I really struggle leaving an open bottle in the refrigerator. Some cravings are not meant to be tamed :slaphappy:
I adore cheese!
i’m with you!!I quite when i was pregnant the 1st time then started back after she was born then opps got preg aagain and quit ans SWORE id never pick one up again. after he was born i STOLE one(pretty low huh} from my mother in law and smoked it….. i laid in bed with a glow of green about me until i finally passed out asleep…never again i said ..it has been four years now since that fateful night and i do believe i am craving cigs again!!! uuuugggghhhhh!!!you know they never smell bad to me even as a no smoker. please dont give in!!!
