Record Breaking Day In Petroville

I’m not exactly sure what my record is but I know that I have never received 65 comments before – esp. in 24 hours! Woo-hoo! I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again, Michele always brings me good luck. Thanks again, Ms. Wonderful.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by yesterday. It may take me a bit but I am happily working my way through the list to visit you all.

What about you?

What is the highest number of comments you’ve received in one day? (a ballpark # is fine- I would have no exact idea either)

What was the subject of your record breaking post? Was it a special day?

If you list it, I will link it.

You love me. You really love me.

  • Congratulations, cousin. You have done such a fabulous job making a home her on the Internet. It does make me miss you for sure. I have no idea about my comments. Probably the day Michele, the very same wonderful lady, put me as the site of the day.

  • My highest was about 24, when I was Michele’s site of the day. I knew it wouldn’t last!!

And you have a lovely day, MommaK!!

  • I think one of my blogs got 7 hits once. Whoo Hooo we’re cookin’ with gas now boys!!

  • 65 Comments? You rock. I’m jealous.

Me – 35 is tops, and personally I think it’s just because I was giving stuff away. It may have had something to do with there being a party going on, but nah. It was the free stuff.

I had a countdown on my blog for when my hubby was “estimated” to leave Iraq for home, and when it wound down to zero those who were there to see it and commented at the “zero” moment got a free 4×4 painting. I’m just now getting to those, because, well, they’re free.

  • I think my highest was 23 and it was for my Photo Request Weekend.

    http://www.thescanlons.net/weblog/index.php/weblog/photo_request_weekend/

  • I am a newbie to blogging, so I have yet to get very many comments on any one single post. I think my highest number was something around 7. I have yet to be discovered.

I just wanted to say congrats on your huge amount of comments the other day. I am not surprised in the least. I have always loved your writing, and visit your site every day while I drink my morning cup of coffee.

  • My highest number was a tie between Meet Grandpa Charming (about my FIL) and Lather Rinse Repeat (about how sometimes I feel like a hamster in a wheel)

    http://twistedcindy.blogspot.com/2005/09/lather-rinse-repeat.html

  • Um, 20-something. I was glad for that! LOL It was the day my husband guest blogged. I think he’d be more popular than me!

  • 8
It was my birthday. I posted about how i love Fall.
It seems that many people love Fall.

  • wow 65??? you ARE a blogging queen!!! my highest is 19 I think…

  • My highest is 30-something. God forbid, I ALMOST talked about politics, not really, but I gave away a basic political view I had. Three of the commenters were trolls who were all related to each other and one of them just kept coming back for more. They were trying to change my mind, Hah! As if!
I have sworn to not talk about anything even remotely political or connected to world events more than once a year.

  • My highest was 41. It is the day you featured me as the site of the day when you were Michele for a day.

  • For some reason it’s not showing up in the haloscan box on the actual number but last I looked I know it was around 75 comments on this post:

    http://sleepingmommy.blogspot.com/2005/06/i-like-gay-men.html

Of course that could also be because it was an ongoing arguement in the comments section and there were multiple posts by the same commentors.

  • I think I got over 55 comments for the Collecting Favorites post, but never over 60!!!

I may have gotten over 60 visitors via Michele but split them by posting a second post mid-way through the day.

You ALWAYS are the queen of comments though!

  • Well, I missed you yesterday while you were the repeat site of the day but I don’t feel too bad because I’m here practically every day!
65 comments, wow, MommaK. Doesn’t surprise me, though, because you are so wonderful.

I just did a quick look-see through my posts and determined that my “See It Your Way” post got the most comments with a whopping 23. Um, a couple of them are my own but that’s because I like to chit-chat with my comments-leavers. Strangely enough, that post refers to YOU!.. it was after the infamous “sucks” episode at your house. LOL (Which is extra weird that I’m bringing that up today because I just moments ago commented about that written punishment on your previous post with your daughter’s to-do list. There is some strange connectedness goin’ on here!) And a few people came over to see me that day back in July, including your lovely sis, so thank you for that.

  • I once got 53 — for a post my daughter had written on my site as a paean to my disabled wife. I myself never got over 42. Maybe if I begged….

  • I’m still building steam… Isn’t that the saying? I think I was just shy of 30 last week with my Toothpaste Wars post about Rollers versus Squeezers.

    http://daniellegitkin.blogspot.com/2005/09/toothpaste-wars.html

  • My highest was over 50 when I was away for the week.

I got nearly 40 in one day when I was ‘Site Of The Day’ on Michele’s blog.

  • I have no idea, I think it’s about 12 in a 24hr period. Would have no idea what the post was. Well done on 65 though!!!

  • Sherry

I knew you were going to beat a record. It was very early in the am when I posted and I thought I would have been the first that posted.
AS you know, I don’t get comments…but I have got over 60 emails before…..some of it was junk…but boy did it make me feel popular. KEEP BLOGGING

  • i got 60 when michelle had me as her site of the day. it was a post about how bbq sauce replaces the need for refrigeration. the horror!!!!!

  • I think somewhere around 20 is the highest. 65!! Good God thats a lot.

  • Hmmm…I think it was under 20.

  • I think it was this one about a spider web:http://wedsoff.com/2005_08_01_wedsarchive.html#112544819906678884

    It got 26 comments.

  • One shy of you. I got 64 once when (surprise!) I was Michele’s site of the day. It was about cute words and expressions that little kids use and families keep in their vocabulary.

    http://bluegrassmama.com/2005/01/13/expand-your-vocabulary/

  • This was probably my most popular and controversial posts. It got 30 comments but got referenced in several other blogs, too.

    http://epnurse.blogspot.com/2005/09/i-have-something-to-say.html

  • Mine was 55 (ish) and it was my 100 things … which just so happened to coincide with being the Site of the Day. How ironic is that?

  • When I was Michele’s site of the day the comments were split between two posts. My record stands at 26 right now I think on the one about my attempt to make gravy:

    http://www.followthatstar.com/current-logs/2005/9/18/gravy-training.html#comments

  • I’m still at the 3-8 range- shhht-…

  • Crap. I don’t think I’ve ever broken 10. But I DO know why. It is because I have not been able to find the time to visit all my fav’s (like YOU!) every few days or so. I’ve been able to read them like every 10 days or so and that is just not enough to convince people you are worth visiting in return.

Oh, and that maybe I haven’t been able to post much of anything on a regular basis. So, why would people keep coming back for more….

How, oh how, do you do it? I am working on it….

  • You deserve numbers like that all of the time. Please note that I am not offering my comment numbers.

  • Talk to me, Goose.
