What’s a List To Do?

Wednesday, September 21st 2005

My life is full of to-do lists. I honestly would lose my head with out them. I have a planner on my desk for day to day items, a monthly list I keep on my computer, a notebook I keep in the car for jotting down reminders, a chalkboard in the kitchen for the family list and a magnetized pad on the refrigerator to remember grocery items. My family knows that if you want something done, purchased or remembered you put it on the list – any list.

I guess my anal habit or bad memory has now rubbed off on my 6 year old. Yesterday she came to me and pulled a piece of construction paper from her pocket. She informed me that it was her to-do list.

Allow me to translate…

1) Feed dog
2) Look good
3) Take upstairs (I told her to take her toys up to her room)
4) TV off
5) Get cool
6) Check downstairs (for random toys, I guess)
7) Outside (park her bike and scooter in the garage)

Hmmmm…maybe that’s how you get cool. I think I have been doing this list thing all wrong!

What about you? Are you a listaholic?

You love me. You really love me.

  • I ought to be; otherwise my brain keeps leaking with things I was supposed to remember.

  • Hmmm…Look good and be cool.

It’s genius! I never even thought about adding those to my list.

  • I make lists to list that I’m making a list

  • That is so cute… Definitely a keeper to show her later on. I make lists a lot, especially at work, and always before I travel (even if I am just going away for one night)!

  • This is very very funny! I love Feb dog. Maybe if I were to turn the TV oof in the evening I would get more done. I could complete my lists. Which I write and then lose. Sigh.

  • I used to list and I don’t anymore. That could explain a lot. I never included those things. That could explain even more…

  • I’m more of a “scheduler”. I have a study and extra-curricular schedules on my month every month, along with a daily planner. Otherwise I’d never get ANYTHING DONE.

  • I think I mainly write lists to check things off! I often write things I’ve already done, just to put a check next to them.

  • that is so adorable!

i usually make a list but then i forget all about it and do stuff as normally as possible. yes. i am disorganized. LOL!

isn’t it weird what our kids pick up from us?! i found out the other day that my 7-yr-old daughter made her own “blog” in one of her notebooks. and no, she doesn’t even call it a diary. it’s a blog she tells me. heeheehee.

  • I love the “look good” entry. That cracks me up! hehehe Thank you so much for the laugh!

  • Sherry

That is the CUTEST list I have ever seen!!

I use a grocery list ONLY…and I never used to. But as we age and our food preference changes I need one NOW. I feel I have a pretty good memory with that kind of stuff.

  • That is just the cutest thing I have ever seen! My kids would have to walk around with their ‘list’ stapled to their heads…they forget between the kitchen and their rooms exactly what I’ve asked them to do!

  • I know what my problem is. I forget to put look good on my list.

    Damn.

    All those years wasted.

  • I have always been a listmaker. Now if I don’t write it down it never gets done, bought, washed, cleaned! I definitely need to add the look good to my list though! That was so cute.

  • Oh lord, how cute

  • that is SO sweet!

…a little type a, but sweet!

  • I don’t have a choice!! I can’t believe how much stuff I have to remember now…you’d be proud o’ me!

  • The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, does it? LOL

So, do you have a list to keep up with all of your lists? :p

  • OMG I would be completely lost without my lists, they are EVERYWHERE! We are so alike! I loved your daughters list, it’s a good habit to start early! AHAHHAA

  • Oh I laughed out loud when I read that! “Look good” is on my list too, but I don’t often get to check it off. I am a big list-maker, and so is my younger daughter. I love the good feeling I get when I check something off the list. Sometimes I even put “make list” on the list, just so I can check it off right away.

  • I am not but my husband is. Sometimes it’s cute and sometimes it’s annoying. lol

  • Look good is number 2!!! LOL. I love that!

  • I’m a total listoholic!!!! I have a Palm Pilot that I put all my lists into, and I enjoy clicking the little square next to each item no my list as I finish it, a little line crosses the task off and then it disappears. So cool!

  • I am a list girl

  • I could read that list before translation! LOL I am a list FREAK! I’ll take a pic of the nerve center of my house and post it soon! Talk about anal…

  • I’m absolutely a “list” person. I’m of the yellow-legal-pad type and keep one with me at all times.

When you get old like me, you gotta have lists ;~)

    *jots down “look good”*

  • Frame that one!

I do lists, too. My motto is “If it doesn’t get written down, it doesn’t get done.”

  • I am definitely a list person. I write lists for everything, from grocery lists, to To Do lists, everything. I also picked this up from my mom. Making lists must be imbedded in our genes.

By the way, your daughter’s list is the cutest thing I’ve seen in a long time. She sounds so adorable!

  • I used to be a listmaker. Not so much anymore. That’s probably part of my problem I need order and organization and there isn’t much of that in my life anymore.

Thanks for the kind words MommaK. It helps.

  • Too Cute! Don’t you just love translating their writing? I know my 7 yr olds are always a trip to read.

I hope you are having a Great Day!
I wanted to thank you for your package! was a Great help!!!

    Take care!

  • Big on the lists. Apparently I go on autopilot when I’m at the grocery store… if it’s not written down I won’t “just remember” we need toothpaste. Your daughter’s list is adorable! A keeper, for sure! Off to look good and get cool — it’ll take a while. Those will have to be on my lists for a long time!

  • Frame it….it’s too cute not to.

  • No I need to get lists. I always lose them. My hubby tells me all the time to “Make a list” I claim to keep everything in my head. But my #1 thing “to do” is to be cool!

  • OH, gee, yes! Nothing can get done if you don’t make lists. However, making a list means you get to rest before doing anything on it.

  • A 6-year old’s to do list is the best. My daughter is 6 as well and very much an organized chick. This is just so sweet. This is definitely a memory for the scrapbook. Put that on your to do list! Shel

  • Teehee, that ‘look good’ one is just too cute! She is indeed being cool with her list. I still get a kick out of her ‘punishment’ letter you posted a while back, too. Sweet girl.

  • Talk to me, Goose.
