Things occasionally get competitve in this house. Last night was one of those occasions…

My husband and I got in to a conversation about arm strength for some reason that I can no longer recall. He asked me how strong I thought I was.
He said, “Do you think you are half as strong as me?”. “Um yeah…at least“, I replied.
We proceeded to the weight set in the basement where he lifted 60 lbs 5 times. He asked if I thought I could do half of that. I was positive that I could.
The Bet
“So if I can lift 60 lbs., you should be able to lift half of that, right?”, he asked.
“Absolutely”, I answered with out hesitation.
The bet was that if I could lift 30 lbs 2x with one arm (either arm), he would do a guest post for me. If I could not complete the task, I had to watch the “Ultimate Fighting Championship” with him.
What do you think happened?

So how was the ultimate fighting championship?

No, really. Did you win?

did you enjoy the fights? LOL
What’s he going to write about?
30 lbs is a toddler. What topic is he writing on?
Can’t wait to see what he comes up with to blog about!
30 lb? Less than a bag of salt for the water softener. But with one arm? Was it over your head? I need for data!
Of course, YOU WON!
ha!
i’ll be expecting his guest post soon, yes?
I bet YOU did it MommaK…and I, too am waiting for his guest post.

I think we’ll be reading a guest post from your hubby shortly!
Enjoy the fights, Mamma

Ahahahahah What’s he going to write about?
I hope you whupped his ass!!!
If it were me, I would have been watching the fight.
I think we’ll be meeting Mr. Petroville shortly!
30 lbs is a lot. Can you sneak your other arm under your elbow???
I say you did it!
There are many ways in which I can lift 30 pounds with one hand/arm. Many, many ways….but not a curl. It was news to me too, let me tell you.
Stand with your hands by your side and turn your palms up. Place a 30 pound weight in one of your hands. Now bring that hand/arm straight up from the elbow towards your shoulder. Its tough. After I failed at 30 lbs. , I did 15lbs. 5 times which was challenging enough. I was really mad becasue I was sure I could do it.
A few minutes later I realized my right neck/shoulder area was screaming at me. Yep, I had pulled something. So for now I can’t look all the way right and I smell like Icy Hot but I have learned my lesson.
I also learned that this was an office bet that many men at my husbands work tried and failed. He felt so bad that I hurt myself, he did not make me hold up my end of the bet. So no Ultimate Fighting Championship….whew!!
Dang! I thought for sure you’d win. But, you should feel awesome that so many people have faith in you!
I would have guessed you could do it to, afterall we pick up our kids that way that much. But I wasn’t thinking of it as having to do a “curl”. Oops! Glad you didn’t have to watch the show anyways.
