From the World of My 5 Year Old…

Sunday, April 24th 2005
My sweet girly has the sniffles. She gives her nose a good blow and says,
“Mom, my left tonsil is all stuffed up.”

As I’m getting my darling out of the tub, she lets out a string of pop-rockets and says to my raised eyebrows, “I’m in the bathroom, Mom. I’m allowed to do that in here.” To that wisdom I reply, “Yes, but it is still rude to do that right in front of a person. You need to say excuse me”.

She says, “I didn’t do it from the front, Mom.

Farts come from the back”.

And finally, as many of you know, we moved my mother into her quaint new condo yesterday. It was an exhausting process, as any move is, but a very rewarding one. We are all so proud of Mom.

On the drive home, my 5 year old asks, “Mom, will Unga be sad now that she is all by herself?”.
(she always asks the tough ones)

I reply, “Well, honey, sometimes people are happier when they live alone. I think Unga will be happier now that she lives closer to us”.
She is quiet for a minute and then says, “You’re right, Mom. Besides, she’s got that beautiful, private balcony where she can read her books”.

I’m not quite sure why that one made me cry.
